Bill i must say that for 20 years or better i ran flex but the little 16th wire drives have held up so far but they dont like bends as much as flex and i definately know the loctite method loses props from time to time. I saw some guy use cold compression now that will hold but I dont really know how to do it right. The boat plans called for 4 s on a 9xl on a 6xl it would be sick

prob more a result of bad harmonics in stuffing tube. was it teflon lined

Unlike my 16th atlas the pak was not foam filled which in my opinion is a must with a wooden model, for one it makes the hull very rigid for two it keep the water out coz thereno place for it to go and lastly it adds weight to a super light model to help hold it down. I think ill go back tonight and sparingly spray some foam in the places I can and reglass the tub. What prop u guys running on 4 s?

I probably shouldnt have been so general or blunt.
Wire drives have many advantages, I run them on my eco and my crackerbox.
I prefer to run them only in straight shaft apps.

I think when theres bend it puts too much side load on the strut bushings/bearings..
They also many times get damaged in shipping..

Bill, as a very fast boater you have all of my respect. You are right that wires have limitations and I am well aware of most of those.
Getting damaged in shipping is not a problem here as I make my own

My 6XL rigger will be back on the water soon. Just need a couple of decent 2S packs or smaller 4S packs. The coin jar is filling

Yay, I no longer have a 6XL rigger, I ran it for the first time last weekend fitted with a Neu 1415/1.5d 2700kv motor, smaller, lighter, smoother, more powerful, cooler, better in every way apart from price, its all I was hoping it would be.
