    Hyperion G3 LiPo

I see some people using these. Are they worth the money? How do they compare to the turnigy/zippy packs? I use a 2200 30-40c turnigy and I keep puffing them. Hyperion has a 2600 35-65c pack that will fit. Would like some feedback on quality before laying down the $$.

    Thanks,
    George

Great Quality but why are you puffing the other cells. What is the set-up you are running? How many amps are you drawing. Packs listed above are only good for 60 to 80 amps. Also are you drawing them down to far.

Not sure on the amp draw (around 66 amps?) but I do know I am over taxing these things. That's why I want to get bigger, better ones. Batteries are cut off at 3.3v per cell.

The G3 cells are not puff proof. They to will puff if you do not know what you are doing.

I'm using 1600mah 2S 35C Hyperions in my mini Revo to power a 540 motor (in parallel). When doing this with some '35C' brand of other cells (also 3200mah total) they got hot. Using the Hyperions they do not even get warm. Certainly deliver the current they promise.

            Good price too!

I know they are not puff proof, nothing is. Yes I may be new to boats but if you have any tips or see that i'm doing something wrong say it.

FE calculator says I'm pulling around 66 amps. Turnigy 2200 30-40c batteries are only putting out 66-88 amps. I know I am over drawing them with the x632. Hyperion has 2600 35-65c which would be 91-171.6 amp which is about 30%more.

Did anyone catch this? You should set you esc to cutoff at 3.7V per cell. At 3.3 you're killing the cells. 3.7x3s=11.1V not 3.3x3s=9.9 There lies your problem!

Cutoff is set at 3.3v which is underload. When I put them on the charger it reads 3.7 and higher. Am I missing something here.

Most touring car racers I know set the lipo cutoff at 3V with no problems, wouldn't worry too much there.

                      Wrong!

The Hyperion are superior cells. They use the new tech and if you use them within their set parameters they rarely get hot. Just don't go below 80% use.

If you were puffing them because of over amping them with a cut-off of 3.3 they would shut down before damage. You would think.

Sorry to go a little off course, but I need to buy some new 4S 5000 race packs. Will be using for P-Offshore [ 4 min. race] with a DF 33/Neu 1521 1.5D. I see that the 45C Thunderpowers are now available for @ 75 bucks/ pair more than the G3's. Any input to help me decide ? I have 6 Flightpower/Turnigys now but I'm thinking for the extremes of offshore I'd rather not push them all that hard.

I have in the past and will continue to say that the G3 packs are the best packs I have ever used. I know that the TP packs are out and I hear they are good BUT are they better than the G3 packs? For less money I will still buy the G3 packs all day long over TP.

For low amp applications I would say that the Flightmax/Zippy cells are fine but for anything that is drawing some power I would spend a bit more on the G3 cells. I run some flightmax cells in my heli's and they are great for the money but I get a lot more power from my G3's.

I for one am very impressed with the Hyperion G3 packs, I have 4 2s 6500s and 4 2s 4200s and they perform great!

I use turnigys exclusively as of now. The bigger batteries seem to be fine (5000) I think the amp draw I have is a little too much for their smaller packs (2200). I'm going to give these a try will report back after I test them out.
