I ran my 2S 5500 hyperion G3's for the first time today. I couldn't believe the increase in power of my flightpower 5000's! Absolutely phenomenal. AND they are priced good. If you insist on saving money rather than going performance and reliability, go for the Zippy's. I've heard good things about them.

I purchased two G3 big packs, the 4200mAh 6S VX in the summer, they are great packs. I then bought two Turnigy 5000mAh 6S pack in the fall and now regret why didn't I get aware of them a bit earlier, at least before I bought the G3s.

Here are some interesting test data, wish it helps.

You're puffing the Turnigy packs because you're over-drawing them, try a larger pack. The Hyperion G3s are excellent packs but the Turnigys are very good for what you pay. I have 2 1800 2s 35C G3s parallelled in my Mini Revo and with the optional speed gear they never even get warm and provide about 40 minutes of run time and can be charged from totally empty (at the LVC) to 100% in about 20 minutes or to the end of the CC phase around 12 minutes.

Yes I do know that I am overdrawing them. I know that's why they are puffing. They are only (2200) rated for 66-88 amp draw and I know I am pulling more than that based on run time. I would stick with turnigys/zippys if they had a bigger pack that will fit in my boat. They don't. Hyperion has larger packs (2600) with a little higher c rating 91-169 amp draw that will cover my needs hopefully.

The question of the topic is if the Hyperion cells hold true to their claims. I have ordered two and will be testing them as soon as they come.

I see that the 45C Thunderpowers are now available for @ 75 bucks/ pair more than the G3's. Any input to help me decide ? I have 6 Flightpower/Turnigys now but I'm thinking for the extremes of offshore I'd rather not push them all that hard.
T-with a 4 min offshore race, you're only running a 90-100 amp setup (10C). The difference in voltage between a G3 35C 5000 and a 45C TP may be slightly noticeable, but barely at 10C...and may even bring on a DNF! That's my take, anyway.

My P Offshore is still using the 25C G-3's.
