first of welcome to o.s.e forums i have never run a nue motor. the nue should be a more efficient motor and have more torque compared to a 580l of the same size and kv. iam seriously thinking of a 12l on 8s to see how it goes
another big diffrence between the nue 1521 and 580l is you could buy two 580s for the price of one 1521, big question would be is the nue twice the motor of the 580

While I have not run a Feigao 580L I have researched the motor. Be careful, there are/were two different 580s and one was a dog. Do not get the motor with the internal fan - Steven has the "right" ones on his site.

The Feiago is cheaper than a Neu, and as expected there is a performance penalty. But apparently it is not huge, expecially for a sport boat. Efficiency is lower with the 580 so it will run hotter with the same setup. The biggest difference that seems to matter is the magnet quality - the Neu will be fine after the magnets get to 180F on a long run, but that temperature will de-magnetize the Feigao and ruin it. If you can keep from overloading the motor the 580 may work fine, just don't expect it to survive high temperatures.

Me - I'd rather have one bullet-proof Neu than two more delicate 580s for my money, but that doesn't mean I might not experiment with a 580 sometime.....
