That mount looks killer. I might have to get one from him on my next build.

yes he does an awsome job. just trying to build a clean boat but couldnt find a decent mount for the 580l motors and peter was kind enough to build me one to suit
here is some pics of my phone there a bit crappy and dont do the mount justice but give you an idea

I am really curious to see how that Himodel 200a ESC will hold up. For $50 I might grap one or two to try out and throw a nice micro fan on the top of them.

i have ran a few himodels from 4-6s and only time i have killed one is from water (60+mph flips)
have pulled some fairly high amps threw them on both 4 and 6s and they have held up well,i usally limit my runs to 1-2 minutes tho
but the escs are not water cooled either
my mate had one in a boat running 6s that was pulling over 160 amps none water cooled and was okay for 2 minute run times

            Scott,

Where did you procure the cooling jacket for the 580L?

            Thanks,

            Ray

well from what I have learned if your going to run 6s in this hull than around 1250 kv is the way to fly

that would make the 10t your best choice ....

I ended up getting a 1527/1y which is 1250 kv

That is a very nice motor mount.
I figure that once you go up to the larger format of motors like the 580 then big mounts are needed, particlarly at the rear (bow end) of the motor.

I see you are still using the large brick boat stand and not the more moblie polythene one on wheels.
                          See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

the brick boat stand while rather heavy is for future development as my boats seem to be getting bigger each build
i figure by 2012 i will be up to 1/2 scale and may need to add more bricks

I am new to the OSE Forum and to electric boats, however, I have built 5 different Sprint Cats and raced them extensively. I am out the racing now but want to build and electric boat for "sport" running. Of course, my choice of boat is the Sprint Cat, at least I know the boat and it's setup. Can anyone tell me how the 580 motor conpares with the Neu 1521 Y1? Good luck with your build.
