well today was my first test run and it did not turn out well.... i ran the boat for about 5 seconds and it hopped right up on plane but shortly after it flipped. at which point water proceded to get into the hull. my esc shorted out and fried which left a giant bubble in the hull that i think may not be repairable ill post pictures in a little while, i have to go research a new hull this time self righting

That sucks man. I had the same problems with my Sidewinder esc. So much for waterproof. Did you tape the hatch? Also, if your looking for a new hull, the eco hulls are self righting.

im not really a fan of the eco hulls but idk

Make sure, which ever esc you go with, coat it in the 3m electronics epoxy and corrosion x for cheap insurance to prevent this from happening again.

Corrosion-x can be murder on multi-layer circuit boards, it delaminates 'em.. Epoxy can have a tendancy to not cure completely near the board..
Silicone conformal coating will stay within primeters of most warranties, and works quite well..

Corrosion-x is good for plugs, and screws that you don't want to corrode

Bill, good to know about Corrosion X! I knew WD-40 was bad news but wasn't aware of the issue with Corrosion X. I know a lot of people saturate their esc's, receivers, etc. with the stuff. I wasn't aware of silicone conformal coating. I know about the epoxy though.

It never was too fool proof for me, though a wonderful corrosion detourant when it comes to hardware, and some primitive circuitry like am rcvrs, not so much for the newer electronics.

I was told to spray sevo motors with it BAD NEWS. Corrosion-x penetrates the pores of metal, and impregnates itself like oilite in a brass bushing. on brushed servo motors it penetrates the brushes, and the comm and creates arcing

Sorry to see that happen, and only 5 seconds into your first run. that is repairable. I would just shave off the bubble and fill it back in with epoxy.

Better to stick with CA , Epoxy will not hold on the Styrene.

Sorry to see the melt down.
