      Looks like an oiler...

I have a Whiplash 20 also and was curious on your battery positioning and setup. Mine was setup for a 1515/1Y and Hydra 240 on 4s. I traded the motor/esc but I'm thinking about repowering it with a 1521/1.5D and Hydra240 on 4s or a 1515/1.5Y on 5s/6s.
      Here's mine:

The 1521 1.5d will beat the snot out of your cells UNLESS you run 2p. I can't fit 2p in my Whiplash unless they are smaller MAH cells. Right now I am running a 1515 1Y on 1p 5500mah 35c Hyperion G3 cells and the boat is running great and Cool after a run.
I decided to swap out my 1515 1Y for the 2.5d just to get extra run time out of the Whiplash. It runs so good that its a shame to only run it for 1.5 min at a time.

          10-4!

Decision made, 1515/1.5Y on 5s/6s. More runtime, cooler temps.

I will have to see if I can fit 3s packs in my hull, I may give the 1.5y on 6s a go and see what happens.

Thats what I was originally going to run. But I threw the 1.5Y in a TC31 on 5s and M645, and bought a 1Y for the Whiplash.

That 1.5Y is a beastful motor but runs ice cold!

I just checked and there is no way I can fit the 3s packs in my Whiplash. My next Whiplash will be built a little bit different than this one so I can fit a wider selection of cells. looks like 4s is all I will be able to fit in this hull.

calcagno45 your Whip looks great. The 1515 1.5y on 6s is the way to go. I haven't even tuned the hull yet and I get a reliable 55mph boat. My 6s packs are 2" wide/2" tall/ 6" long. I put a bulkhead at the end of the battery tray that my 4s pack runs into. The 6s pack can't go as far forward as the 4s pack because it runs into the top of the canopy. I'd say about 1/2" rear of the sponson bulkhead. The tube in the stuffing tube is to inject grease into it with a syringe. Forward of the injection tube is teflon liner, behind it is 3/16 brass stuffing tube with a 7/32 brass step up tube that slides into the 1/4 brass tube epoxied into the boat. The stuffing tube just slides out/in, so I make different length/bend for different strut angles

I will be trying the NUE 1515 1.5y (1500kv) and Castles Mamba Monster ESC in my Phil Thomas SS 21 sport build. I have a few 3s lipo packs that I also use in my Nue powered Emaxx monster truck so this combo makes sense if the fan cooled controller will work in this hull. I know this MMM controller will handle 6s and 1515 1y (2200kv) easily in my truck. There is lots of room under coil for good air flow.

Just made a couple passes swinging a Prather 225. This is my new favorite prop...To bad it and the flex cable are at the bottom of the pond. Much faster than the X642. Just put the new Kintec coupler on and I lose a prop shaft. Going to get another 225 and an ABC H4, and I am going to a .187 cable this time. I just hate all the work that goes into each prop. No GPS this time but it is in the 60's. Good temps all around.
