I managed to get it w/in 1.2" behind the sponson's ride pad. This is a better reference point. I had to add two 3oz ballast strips to the nose - poked way up in the sponsons. Then I have the motor up in the cockpit with the batts as far forward in the tunnel. I may be adding more ballast if need be. I had a dead nicad pack in each sponson and it rode real nice, then I dunked it and decided to remove the batts before they rotted or leaked.

I put one of those bearingized struts on there and am reeeeeally happy with it. Looks good, man I love this boat - its my wife's favorite of the fleet!

What motor/esc you gonna use? Still have a BJ motor? I have tried both and it runs great, but my UL1 setup makes if FLY!!!! Just made a couple laps in the community pond and dodged the fountain and hopefully the monster gold fishies that cruze round in there. I'll try to talk my wife into filming later.

great motor, I think the ESC will be overkill, but better than smokey joe! batt sounds good, have you located your COG? I will try this evening or early before they turn on the blasted fountain.

How did your side job go? did you get away with it?

I know you want to get her wet, but I think you might want to reset your stuffing tube. Check my postings on how I did that, it will give you lots more adjustability both up/down but also angle (which controls the bow). While you are removing stuffing tube, you could go to .078 wire drive, actually no I want to keep my advantage.

COG needs to be up there if you want her to stay on the water, especially at your desired speeds. Recall Darins thread where he keeps adding lead to the bow - the stockies didn't worry too much about getting this right it appears. Also you added a bunch of CF, as did I and that is all BEHIND the COG. Do us both a favor and keep working on it until it is w/in 1.5". Get yourself 4 strips of the 3oz lead ballast with adhesive they sell the airplane boys and stuff it into some pipe insulation/pool noodle then jam that up into the sponsons as far forward as possible.

Good luck and what is tigging? you sound like you treat your body like you do your boats???

If you look through my Elam Race Prep thread, you'll see the mods I did to my stuffing tube... Might help some.

I ended up adding over 6oz of lead to the nose of the hull to get the CG "right". I'll have to measure it to give you the exact distance at this point, but I think you'll find it necessary to add the weight to get it right. Anything less and the boat gets really squirely once you exceed 40mph...

I initially started out with the lead taped underneath the front cannard wing, until I figured out the right amount. Then I did some fancy drilling and installed tube-lead (1/4" OD fishing weight lead) into the front of the boat through the side of the sponson and through the front cannard-wing. Works pretty well now.

You evidently don't know what RTR stands for...

Ready To go work on it in the shop for a week or so and then do the first test Run

I guess they should call it RTGWOIITSFAWOSATDTFTR...... But I guess RTR is easier to remember.
