will get some pics tomorrow boats stiil a bit untidy till i sort out placement of everything

okay here is some pics of my phone, its still work in progress so not cleaned up yet.
ran it today with 1/2 deg neg strut, and 32% c.o.g. and its fairly close. it just gets on plane then drops the nose slightly so c.o.g needs to come back a bit but water was dead flat so a bit of chop and it should be good.
was running the p220 and being it was running a bit wet i only got 70klmh (43mph) put on a m645 for a quick run and only got to about 3/4 throttle and the prop shaft came of the flex, so looking to change from .150 to a 187 flex, even tho it didnt get far and not full throttle gps recorded 74klmh (46mph).
i was testing in a small pond so my turning area is smaller than a oval course but it was turning at full speed and staying nice and flat
i fairly sure my gaol of low to mid 50s and full speed cornering wont be a problem for this hull

the 580 is great heaps of torque. my cat weighs about 3.5kg (7.7p) so its fairly heavy, but the 580 moves it out real quick

thinking about it maybe my drive dog was a bit close to the strut, should .150 be strong enough ?

Reckon so,i spoke to a very long seasoned boater when i ordered my last 3 flex cables etc,he reckoned so too.
The main thing with cables is to get them perfectly aligned with the motor,no mad bends or kinks.
Also use only light oil,not grease when using a liner in the stuffing tube.
I set a gap,(dog/strut) the width of the flex shaft on all my boats.

every thing was lined up spot on and no kinks or sharp bends, but i think i set the dog to close i was leaving a 3-4mm gap but was worried the bushing mite pop out, will get some parts in the next couple of weeks and try again
you have any pics of your cat

4mm sounds ok,i asume you dremmelled a ridge on the shaft and loctited the dog on?
A pal just before a race heat swopped dogs and shafts etc on his boat and didnt,he lost prop and the dog.Couldnt help but laugh!
dead easy to forget,i do it all the time..rushing to hit the water.too many boats

Just had confirmation for the rest of the bits needed for my 29cat,motor cooler and mount.Should be here maybe wednesday.
No recent pics, its just a bare stripped down hull at the moment,i;ll take some as work progresses.
My medusa MR-3680-2000V2SE-5 arrived yesterday, looks and feels a real beasty.
                  I'll run it on 5S.

drive dog was secure, the speed master bushing has another piece of tubing on the drive dog end and if you have to much of a gap it can pop out this was what i was worried about and set the gap a bit closer wich was alright when running a smaller prop but as soon as i proped up it let loose.
but this is a minor problem as i didnt think i would go the weekend with out either the esc or batts giving up the ghost

Well finally got all the bits together to rebuild my cat with some good power this time
                      80mm Medusa motor arrived too.
bad luck to start it off, drilling the water nipple holes on the Etti motor cooler,i cracked the whole can, very brittle,i should have used a smaller drill bit and worked up in size
i'll have to order another can, which will knock this build back another week..

ran the boat today water had at least 2" chop and the hull was fantastic full speed turns no problem, but speed just wasnt there with the m545 all i could get was 68klmh with a modded 447/3 i got 70klmh (43mph)
after a good 2min flogging with the m545 temps on the motor and esc were around 45 deg (113f) esc isnt water cooled so expected higher temps, batts were 35 (95f)
i tried another .150 cable and it ripped in half rite at the coupler
so may need to go to a .187
but it may have been the chop i was running in have been setting up in a smaller pond were the waters flat as glass, so thinking the prop kept coming in and out of the water and the constant grabbing of the prop snapped it would also explain the lower speed
also had filed a flat on each side of the flex for the coupler grub screws to bite so may have weekend the flex

Hi,asuming your running 4S packs, that motor should scream.
props that work good in monos tend not to work in cats good and vice versa.
Could just be a wrongly supplied KV motor.I've had it one too.
If stuff comes back cool, couldnt you try a 5S pack if you have some? and maybe raise the strut real high.

I noticed last yr when i first built my cat with a 1800 mega Motor, very small can,it needed far,far more grunt to get half decent speeds from it,thats why i shelved it for so long.I had larger hulls needing funds.
Think you might be better with the screw on type Octura collets, less damage to the cable, still think 150 cable should be fine, thats what i will use.
Flex cable can be strange though, only last nite a pal snapped his brand new 1/4 gas one right in the middle of the the stuffing tube, perfectly aligned, fitted etc.lost his prop and the stinger bushing tube, first tank too.
I'll try and get mine finished soon to compare speed, props, etc.
                                any video?
