Not sure what dimensions cf you have, but I would like to run two strips 1.5" by 9" along side the stuffing tube, to stiffen the tunnel. Thanks, bro.

I got rudder installed and in the next half hour also the rudder servo and linkage. pics to come, really.

Bustit, what state is the Vegas in, apart from collecting dust???

Excellent, I will Paypal you before noon for sure. Thanks again.

I have noticed that the longer I wait, the more the order costs... and shipping goes up too, so send it and you can always start the next order. You will need to have her up soon if you want to stomp some "tour tail", whatever that is...

Well, got some pics. Here are some shots of the motor/esc way up in cockpit, driveline and servo (boring, but important). Also I got my rudder installed and a nice 3 blade prop.

more of her rear end, for bustit. If anybody notices anything, please chime in. I am by no means an expert at this, just going of limited experience and some building skills.

I have one big dilemma at this point. My COG is still kinda back, so anybody have any ideas on how to get some weight in the sponsons? I have toyed with the idea of putting the batts up there, but then hard to get in/out. lead? shot? ideas

Did you see the little oiler hole in the back of the strut? Cool.. eh? Bearings are also easy to change. Remove nose and slide a new one in. The step up shaft is pretty sweet.

The shaft is a 78 wire drive with a shaft to fit the bearing strut that is 4mm and steps up to 3/16" for the prop.

I sat and played with one with a prop on it for 15 minutes just watching the prop spin and spin with a slight twist of the shaft. If you replace the bearings take the inner shield off each one. Better cleaning and lubing that way.

                Nice work man.

Thanks, bustit, can't wait to see my competition's ride!

Precisely! I will probably end up putting them down in the sponsons. BUT, if I can add some kind of weight to the base of the sponsons, then the batts on top, I would be cool.

That is the remaining design. If the batts went in sponsons with foam all around, I would have a perfect COG. If I put weights in the sponsons, I could put batts next to the drive shaft... this is my toughest challenge yet.

Jeff, I saw the grease hole and absolutely love this wire/stub/strut set up! I know I didn't use the nice set back bracket, but needed the strut tight against transom... I am hoping for a nice day Tuesday for a test

hmmm, maybe try the weight in the sponsons first, since it wouldn't be as permanent. check out Darin's brushless Elam. I know it's a bit different than a converted nitro but cog should be around the same. he adde weight up front and he claims that it handles awesome.

                        cut the wings?...

Hell no! I love how it looks! it stays scale. I think I have decided to get some lead strips and velcro them in the sponsons then the batts can move around to help establish COG.

Nate, I would recommend getting an Elam already set up for FE rather than nitro... unless you are after a challenge!

Update. Since I melted my Hydra in the DF33, I have focused on getting the Elam going.

I have dropped two dead nicad packs in the sponsons encased in bubble wrap to solve my COG problem, hopefully. This left lots (comparatively) of room in the tunnel for all else. I jammed probably a total of 3' of pipe insulation along the outside of the tunnel for anti sink.

since this puppy was built for nitro (bleh) I had to make a subhatch. I used some 1/4" square plastic tubing to make a seat for some thin plexy glass and used some wing mount foam as a seal. I will probably tape this down if I don't get fancy and sillykone it to the hatch.

this places the batts on end right snug along the stuffing tube down the center. All is ready for maiden voyage... pics to come.

you mean vertical fins or two horizontal wings for extra coolness? It will take a LOT more than checker boarding your fins to T me off, in fact I wud be happy to see checker board fins each time I LAP you.

I would just CA them on and I bet you a pitcher of Sierra Nevada that they hold fine.
