No, Peter you did a great job, I am really happy with the outcome. I was not expecting a perfect fit even with the drawings and measurements. I would have really sent you the boat if I didn't want to have to work it a little. Repeat, you did great!!

I have been thinking on this and have to decide on just how this is going to work. As with all my designs, I keep refining until the end, so this is normal for MY designs. I rather push forward and have to modify than wait until I have a clear picture on exactly how everything will go together - I wouldn't get anything started let alone finished.

I will try to get some pics later today.

      got paint

Well, here is some paint on the "princess of darkness" - the would be sith daughter of Vader.

I used Krylon primer and paint, and will be applying a clear coat once I am set with paint and graphics. I would like to add some flames on the sponson tips - the point that will be breaking into the speed of light. The dudes can see out now, and they are glad.

        motor mounting

I have decided to use SS stuffing tubes - gotta maintain high standards with the likes of Peter and Jeff! The tubes are just set in for now, with their teflon liners (.25" od by .125" id). They spin ooooooso niiiiiice, like silk.

Ok, motor mounts. I may be able to use a thin (.068" aluminum) bar that I can mount to the tunnel like original plan. I will be using some thin ply spacers to rest the mounts onto (and yes I will paint them silver as well). You can see where I was off on the angle I gave Peter, but it may work to my advantage, leaving room for the bolts to the mount. The bar would then be bolted to the tunnel along that angle between the two ends of the mount. I need to get my aluminum cut and then I should be able to move forward.

Any ideas, comments or suggestions are more than welcome to this group project.

The CNC prop is on for looks, will she be counter rotating x442s when on 5 and 6S, and X447s for some 4S big roost action.

Thanks, bustit, been wonderin what uve been up to. Think she would look good with some flamin sponson tips? Red and orange adhesive will be for a test, not so sure about painting, ain't no good with an airbrush...

Jesse do you want me to see if I could remove a 1/4 inch off the writen mount program and remachine the four mount segments to fit closer on the Aluminum plate . It would be no charge

round 2 on the motor mounts

Well, Peter that is a very generous offer, but I will not permit you to do this for free. I have a couple photos with dimensions as to how, if we were to modify, the new mounts would work much better.

On the tunnel angle, grey in the pics, I will JB weld a 1/16" plate with bolts sticking out (I just changed my mind - in the pics there are different thicknesses, but I think they should be the same). To these I will slide over the plate holding the two parts of the mount and tighted with locknuts. Along the hull floor, I will silicone in some shims, so the motors are not dangling.

The plates glued to the hull must be a little bit shorter (2.5" max) so the bolts to the mount have 1/16" to stick out of the plate.

Let me know if this is totally incomprehensible....

                  thanks man,
                  J

Jesse I have re-writen the code will start on the new pieces tomorrow

On the rears I need and exact measurement on where I cut out the relief holes for the motor setscrews , sorry I did that after everything but will write that in as a package once I get them from you

Thanks everybody with encouragement! My goal has been to increase the tidiness of my builds and emphasize the interior as well as exterior. She is fun, but I too am getting anxious to get her wet!

Peter, unless I am misunderstanding, the relief holes are fine where they are. If the pics look slightly rotated, that is an artifact of the layout, I still haven't measured the angle on the tunnel (kinda hard with all the curves and relative sides etc.). The main thing is to take off that little bit of angle where the mount meets the tunnel. trimming off to allow for 1/8" of plates (2 by 1/16"). I am looking to use some flat head machine screws and will bevel the hole in the plate a little so there is room.

I hope this is explained well enough, seems clear to me..... lemme know if you have questions. Thanks again for the patience and perseverance!

Jesse I need to know where they are cause that is something I did at the very end and did not bother to write the exact measurements down , so I would be guessing on exactly where to put them . those are the half circle cutouts for the rear of your motors setscrews . I have re-adjusted the code as per your picture and will start on them this morning . with any luck we hopefully will have these in the mail to you by Friday

the angle on the bottom you refered to is done on the very end....pretty much the last thing done to the mounts , just need to know if its going to be slightly more or slightly less

                          Sorry for any inconvenience

I get it Peter, no worries. Here is a scan with a .25" grid over it... should be exactly 1:1
The tape is the distance to the tunnel angle. Remember, we need to trim it back 1/8" to allow for plates. Think you could make me 4 plates 1/16" thick, 2 @3.5" and 2 @ 2.5" ? that should finish off the adjustments.

                            Thanks again, you da man!
