Here are the almost finished pieces Jesse , I just have to cut the deflection angle on the mount bottoms , so they properly mount on an angle . I don't know the exact degree angle but it works out to 1mm up on the rear to every 8.66mm in length on the motor
Oh and the simulated motor..............................
motor mounts should be here early next week, and the only other thing is getting me some controllers. Will be using twin Hydras, so just need one more, possibly two (like things in pairs)
Well Peter, I am sorry to report that, while I got the mounts today I won't get to say, "third time's the charm".... The mounts are perfect!!! I have the base plate gluing as I ticky type. In these pics, they are just resting in there. I have made my strap and WOW these are gonna ROCK
Tomorrow I will be able to remount the motors and secure the stuffing tubes, flooding the back sponsons with Epoxy. Then I can CF over the tunnel and over the base plate, leaving the motor mount screws poking through. These are the last steps for the build... With luck I may get a float test Sunday.
The mounts are my typical method of gluing a plate with screws sticking up and then fixing a nut to them. I prefer removable motor mounts.
Here is a shot of the base plate and the motor mount plate sandwiched and ready for the glue. I take the phillips head of the bolt and hit it with my Dremel break away bit and make deeper grooves in the head, this way the glue gets in there good and holds. Nothing worse than these guys coming loose......
The screws on the ends are for the motor, and for the gluing I lubed them up so the marine Epoxy wouldn't stick to these. The nuts holding them in are temporary and will go into the Super Fly Custom Motor mounTs.
Jesse you have to take the bulk of the credit , I have to say the angles involved are a little out of reach of the average boater . to ask for a mount for a said boat thousands of miles away takes some carefull consideration and advanced knowledge of drafting and complex angles which falls in your ball Court . there is no way this could have been done without your drafting knowledge and detailed drawings and yes I did press enter on the key board...............
I am really looking forward to the maiden run..................................
Godspeed my friend..........................or faster
Peter you are not only one of the most generous, but also incredibly humble individuals I know. I hope these mounts can be used by other boaters to help you offset your cost on this prototype - please do, by the way. I guess I have a knack for 3D imaging and drafting, gotta thank my course in engineering drafting ---- by HAND! Back when Fortran 77 was a bad word and AutoCad 3 was being used.
I will try to get the blasted CF in today Wolf, wouldn't want no splitting of no hulls! Will update.
