Way to go Simon.
Although I didn't witness the run ( it's hard getting out of bed early on the weekend in the winter when it's raining ) I did see the GPS reading.
We have to trust that the reading wasn't taken in the car heading for the Quarry.
When you get bored with going in a straight line we must get you down to Wattle Farm and around the oval with your amazing balsa boats.

Graham
Think you are flogging a dead horse there Graham If I was running by myself with fast setups id be chomping at the bit to come down and visit our club, Simon has told me before he doesn't want to race.
Tyler I may come down to Hakanoa for a SAW run in the summer.
Matt You are right, it is a dead horse. I'll not race. Me and the water is all I want, and as Graham D saw on Sunday I could do with a few less targets too. Dang bouys for the flappy boats Neither of us hit one but it would make driving at the Pupuke Quarry a lot easier if they were not there.
The 100km/h setup
My sponsons set at 5 deg AoA
XS3 style tub set at 2deg AoA
4S 5000mAh 25-37C Rhino pack from HK
200A Mystery ESC, no water cooling
Turnigy 6XL from HK with water jacket.
.062 wire drive, my own build.
Octura 642 cut down to 640 by AndyM
No name 40 mhz FM rx from HK
Balsa hull from me.
The next boat to get the speed treatment is the Wild-thing inspired mono with a 7XL in there. I am looking for 50mph out of that one.

Update.
Last week it had a less than friendly encounter with the rock wall of the Quarry. Most of it is now repaired and i got a few runs in yesterday with the SAW sponsons on with a turn fin for quick turns in the narrow end. Graham D knows where I mean.
The sail guys had thoughtfully placed a new float smack in the middle of the narrows so now there are 3 floats evenly spaced at the choke point of a key shaped pond. The other two are hard plastic and are not beatable with fast wooden boats. The small polystyrene one had just taken a whack from my 4S Cat and was not looking good from that.
Anyway back to the rigger and the runs.
I have a couple of good packs and some very cool props that were sent over by AndyM.
A PQ5000mAh and a 637 went out for warm ups. Very cool.
A 640 was eye opening, now remember that I cleared 104 kmh on this prop and the rpm by ear was lower than that of the 637 back then. This 640 sounded as quick as the 637. The acceleration was very cool.
I figured it was time to go for gold and threw on a very modded 642 from Andy.
This was insane. The pack did not care and the motor was happy, the speedie thermaled after 4 passes and came back to life after the required cool down.
The acceleration was insane. Due to the new bouy / float layout I ran it at 1/2 throttle until i was close enought to shoot the gap with accuracy and then nail it. The boat near came off the water like a TAH drag boat complete with the vertical wall of water that they leave and shot down the pond with a scream that I have never heard from a 637 let alone a 642
With no gps I have no verification but my eye and maths tells me this thing was faster than the old setup that did 104 kmh.
I am very very happy.

That prop was responsible for me cracking the 110Kmh mark 116 to be precise in an old xs2, it has been repaired more times than my relationship with Darrin Jordan. I have a mold from a prop duplicator and have two more that run just the same.
Well done mate now go race that bugger
Andy Your props are wicked and that is a mild understatement that we from the South are infamous for.
Your speeds with the X2 would tally up with what I saw but I can not claim it.
Your relationship with fellow boaters is your issue and I'll not meddle in it.
Thank you very much for the very cool props.
btw I'll not race......end of.

Simon I thought I had a great relationship with all boaters be that FE or dare I say it Gas. I have found the FE folks to be a gay and happy bunch and with all the love Douggie Hands out ( pun intended ) I have always felt warm and fuzzy but it is quite HARD some times, what with all the gear I give away I could buy some friends!!
Beautiful work!!! Do you have any pdf plans for it?
Sorry man, no plans on paper. This was built from a few photographs and some key dimensions taken off a Xzess-3 that Paddy (Xzessperated) owns.
As with all of my builds it was built by eye.
