    What hull? How many volts? Which 1521? We really can't help much without that info. The power level will determine the cable size, which determines the other hardware. Man, help us out here.....

          Sounds very similar to mine. I've been advised by fellow members to use this and am in the process of making the boat now.

          CC 120HV Hydra ESC
          Neu 1521/1Y 1577KV 8mm Shaft
          OSE 8mm Straight Couplers for .187 cable
          Hughey .187 Assembled Cable for 3/16" Propellers
          Teflon Liner for .187 flex cable
          9/32 brass for Octura .187 Teflon tubing
          Speedmaster Stinger Strut for 3/16" prop
          Speedmaster 21 Rudder 5.25" Long Mono Rudder
          Octura x447 Prop 3/16"

          Mine is 34", fibreglass over wood & foam

                        Prop Choice

                        HI --Deep Vees you got to love them.
                        I spent all last summer building and testing a 36" fiberglass boat built on the lines of the classic Apache race boats of the 1980s.
                        a good place to start would be an Octura 442, That will get you running so you can fine tune your set up then prop up.
                        I got 50mph out of a Fiegao 9XL on 6S, 4800mAh loPos and an Octura M447.
                        That was in a very heavy hull built like the gas boats. I will pull a much lighter epoxy boat from my mold in the spring and start all over. You can read about it here

                            Hi Viking,

                            I remember your build. This setup is very hot and beyond the 9xl capabilities. How many times did you run the boat and for how long? Did you have any heat issues with the motor?

                              Hi rcboatfan;
                              The boat I was running , hull and deck weigh, 5lbs add 0.5lbs, for the hatch so 5.5lbs,. She weighs 9.5lbs ready to run with no hatch. The boat with the red orange yellow paint is a full pound lighter, but I think I can do better, and still have a very rugged hull.

                              DISAR;
                              I remember your informative advice at the start of my build Thankyou.
                              Early in testing I ran that set up with 4S, ESC is a Mystery 200A intil the batteries started to drop and everything was just comfortably warm to hold in your hand.
                              When the season got so cold that I stopped running I realized that all I had done was testing, with the exception of the runs down the lake driving from my sons boat.
                              Testing was 2 or 3 loops around a track size oval and then in to the dock to check temps, make adjustments and then out again, I wasn't running for fun, no long runs.
                              The runs down the lake (here http://www.youtube.com/fviking1 ) are straight full throttle and the load is surprisingly light ( Eagletree data logger) but they were not over a minute and a half or so and no temp issues there either.
                              Steven had the KB45 motors on sale (sold out) and I bought a 9 for that boat. When the weather warms I will make a new mold and make some lighter epoxy hulls.
