thanks, I like the look, even if no use, of the spray rail (as you call it), I see people using names differently, but I think I agree with your terminology: two lift strakes and a liiiiiiiitle tiny spray rail along the outside. I used that architecture plastic in a 60deg triangle x section. easy to use, but also easy to screw up with CA.

Thanks for the encouragement, it has been on hold recently and you've rekindled my drive to finisher up and see if she floats!

Where did you get the architecture plastic? That sounds like the ticket for the strakes and chines. Did you use that for the spray rail too? I might get back at my manx soon too.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

funny, I actually got it at the university bookstore (we have a pretty good architecture dept), but I have also seen it at LHS.

I just used it for the spray rail. The problem with using it for strakes is that it doesn't come in less than 45deg triangle. I guess if you had a high precision band saw you could mill flatter stuff. For my strakes I did just that with balsa, I milled my strakes according to the plans from a poor chunk of trailing edge using my bandsaw at a high angle. For this guy, I happened to have these strips laying around from the last cat I made.

Do you have a thread going for your manx?

              maiden voyage

well computers were giving me grief today so I took it upon myself to self remedy. I finished the microcat. Well not pretty paint and all, but got her hardware back on and buttoned up. Got permission from the community staff to use the microboat pond in our place here and gave her a toss.

went with mystery motor and esc (shown above but hidden under the hatch). rudder is by Joe Solinger, the strut is my own ugly creation.

Here are are some more pics of after the run. Video link is below.

              Analysis (definitely open for comment):
              - need to move weight forwards
              - need to drop strut a tad
              - prop up (I think it was a 27 mm)
              - level side to side balance
              - need to gather courage and use whole pond for nice wide sweeping full speed turns.

Cavitation gone. traded for torque roll... The hopping on the corners is enhanced also. I was thinking longer rudder and maybe something to hook the front? any ideas?
                  second run, much better!

I tell you, the only changes I made were, 27 to 29 mm prop, 5 mm lower strut, and actually a smaller battery, 1250 Rhino pack to a 1100 mah zippy (actually same brand different label).

I would like to get camel and his radar to get us a speed since my gps wont fit inside, but I am pretty sure we are over 20 mph.

Any ideas on how to neutralize the torque roll? I was toying with ideas about a one side trim tab to counter it?

also the turning hop, longer rudder?

thanks guys, it took longer than I thought, as always, but am pretty psyched about performance; Camel, wait till you see it GO in person!

Now just to paint it up.

What did you guys think of the rescue barge? Check out what I discovered it was capable of:

                              Kinda crazy, eh?

Maybe keep the same strut depth, but play with the angle of it. Just go with small changes at a time. I am jelous at your speed on a single with a 2 cell lipo, compared to my twin with a 4000mah 2 cell.
