Got my hardware in today from that ebay shop. He did actually ship me the red :0. Looks pretty good overall, but I will say that the wire drive is very very thick... 1/8" actually... way overkill for a boat this size..

Ya the flex shaft is in fact 1/8" and agreed way huge.

The reason is the square end...

Im thinking of going with .098 and a new prop shaft.

Well, i also ordered some hardware from R2hobbies.. got a .098 flex shaft in that order. I thought about using that shaft with this strut, but it will require the teflon liner to be replaced. Aside from that, it should work well.

One of my prop shafts was drilled wrong (the hole for the square part of the shaft was drilled off center), so it didn't want to rotate as easily as the one that was drilled centered. You might want to check yours as well.

Aside from that, I do really like this hardware. The strut has just a little bit of adjustment, which is nice, and the rudder looks to be the perfect size for these small hydro's.

This is the shaft I got, came pre-assembled.

Looks like what is in the OSE store.

Hey Bass, I'm gonna place an order for some ply to make frames for one of the hydro's I'm working on. Can you give me an idea of what else I would need wood wise to finish a hydromite if I bought a short kit?

            You wont need much...

            4 sticks of 3/32 x 1/4" Balsa

            1 stick 3/32" Sq Balsa

            1/4" Sq Balsa

            1/2" x 3/8" Balsa (front radius)

            Sheet of 1/32" Ply (underneath)

            1-2 pieces of 1/16" x 3 or 4" Balsa (top of decks)

I wasnt able to get 3/32" x 1/4" Balsa anywhere local- so I had to buy the stripper to trim it down.

Outside that everything comes in the short kit. Its very well worth the money. Thats speaking from cutting one out before by hand...

              Awesome, good to know.

If the guy is willing to send me another prop shaft, I'll probably just use these wire drives, but if he doesn't I'll swap them out for .098's.

Good luck. I emailed him about my issue on not getting the correct colors I asked about. Never heard back from him.

ya.. I hope. I mean.. it still rotates.. just not as easily as the good one.. then again, the good one isn't the smoothest in the world either.

                    Well its been some time.

I got caught up in my Car Audio stuff I do. Ended up researching a lot, buying to much and spending much time doing what installation stuff I could.

                    Now I lost my job.

So Im back to working on my boats given the materials I have here in house.

Hull #1 I was sheeting the sponsons when I stopped tonight. Hull #2 needs this done.

Ive been working on them trying to keep them at same pace.

I have an issue/question on the front sponsons. The section B-B on the plans show the oversized odd shaped side coming up from the bottom- well it shows it termination on the SIDE of the 1/8x1/4 balsa strip.

Now when I built this hull years back, I believe I just glued the ply to where the other was, not exposing the 1/8x1/4 strip.

I need to see a few examples before I proceed.
