Strut, stuffing tube question

How far into the strut should the stuffing tube go?

It really depends on the design of the strut and the angle the hull meets the strut. If it goes too far, you'll limit or possibly eliminate any angle adjustment. If it doesn't go in at all, it can be a source for leaks or leave the flex cable unsupported. I extend the brass as far as I can, making sure it does not interfere with any drive angle adjustment. I also extend the teflon liner as far as I can, on twin cat setups for example, with long drives. It usually goes past the angle adjustment point, but needs to stop short of the transition from flex to solid stub shaft so that it doesn't cause binding.
