    twin AC R42 build

Hello, I tried to sell these motors and ESC'S with no luck. so I'm going ahead with this build inspired by Shawn ( Sirlash) lol. Converting this from gas build that never got finished. I have 2 neu 1515 1650 KV MOTORS AND 2 Etti speed controls plan on 5s per side. center mounted counter rotating props. and skag struts any input would be appreciated

With 5S per side in that large hull, you may need more then a 120A ESC.

I run a 36" Avenger twin for racing Oval and Offshore classes
    6S per side
    Trunigy marine 180A-V2's
    TP4050's -1575KV motors
    45mm- props

Haha, I am planning on using my Etti 120’s as well but with a pair of TP 4050 950kv’s on 10s which I’ve had around forever.

And Gene I have logs stating 190 amps on BlownAway. Mind you those are Castle 1717’s and I think that boat is on the heavy side.

1515,s are way too small. Maybe 1521 per side or best 1527 per side. That’s a big boat. I built one with a 3080 Lehner and one with a 2030 NEU. 70 mph boats. I now run a Top Gun with duel Pletts and a dual Flier 300.

Howard is right, the motors are too small with too high a Kv for 5S. The props will be too small for decent efficiency. I raced this hull on 10S with a single Neu 2215 and x462 prop, it needs some power to perform well.

How about the TP 4070 4Y 1090 KV would that work?

I thought you could go up to atleast 1600 kv,s running 6s in oval race trim, so you would think a 1600 kv motor running 5s would be fine.

Yeah, that sounds about right and should be just fine in that boat. If you set it up as a twin with each motor running 5s , you're only looking at 29,280 rpm's per motor

Geno, what size props are you aiming at? I am running 447’s on BlownAway with the 1717’s(1577kv) on 6s and that gets me 70’ish miles per hour. I am getting 4mins runtime but that is with 8,400-8,800mah per side.
I would just like to try a lighter setup.

I just ordered a pair of CNC 50mm/2’s in bronze to try on that one. So as soon as they arrive I’ll toss them on and get back to you.

For what it's worth, in my dual powered 50" H&M Supercat XL I run the same motors, TP 4070 1090Kv on 8S/side with a X447's and it moves the big hull easily with decent runtime, for more speed I'll run reduced (50mm) X457's and motors easily turn them too. For esc's I'm running MGM 25063's but certainly more esc than is required but the headroom is nice.
