    ok, the 1/8" is .098 I think.

It is this part from OSE:

I run a 1/8 stub shaft with 130 flex never a problem . The .098 is just a little smaller I have some that is old stock and wes the strogest ever made.

Make certain the bend in the shaft is minimal. Strut bushing friction is nothing to an SV-27 motor on 4S; with these little motors on 2S, it may take 50% of your available power to overcome bearing drag.

Well maybe a straight shaft would be better in these

Try the Octura 0.098" cable or a 0.030" wire drive if you want an adjustable strut.

My "Scale" entry is going to have a straight shaft for a number of reasons, including a scale look. As I recall, the '77 Atlas did not have a huge hunk of aluminum bolted to the center of the transom.

              Just got the Hull.

Wow.. this thing looks awesome... I appreciate the double hatches as well Randy. I think whichever doesn't get used here will go on the MH.

Doc's laser cut stringers from the MH almost match up. Doc did such a good job with his lightening holes that Iwon't be able to cut them down, but I might use them for a template.

Randy, would you recommend the same hardware for this as the MH (solinger turn fin and rudder, Doc's straight shaft or something flex)? It looks like this is going to require some thinking in regard to motor choice with the available space.. might have to go inrunner as there seems to be less space available here then in the MH (height wise).

Do you think the .130 flex is needed (for normal power levels)?

And a random question for the group... How long should a rudder be? Is it a function of running depth? I would assume it is... but I can't say for sure. Like, a 6.5cm rudder seems normal for the MH (I'm eyeballing from the pics on Joe's site), but what about for the Mini Patriot and the Mini ScatCat.. they both have taller transoms.. Do I need to think about going to 7.5cm, or even 9cm for them?

Also, someone remind me.. the Patriot doesn't need a turn fin, but the Cat does, right?

Also, anyone know of trim tabs small enough for these boats?

I've started a new thread asking for some help in coming up with equipment lists for that hulls I have. If ya'll don't mind, I'd appreciate some input.

Randy, I'm going to build the Shovelnose with the same equipment that goes into one of my MH, and then run them to give you some feedback on my impressions of them as a noob. I hope this will prove helpful to you in some manner. Because of this, these are the two boats I want to get up and running the quickest.
