Strut is even with the bottom.

Did you ever do a build thread on this? I am setting up a skunkworks cat and that is the performance level I am looking for. Have a couple of outrunners and an inrunner to choose from, one is a 3656-1800.

Would you be able to tell us more about the setup and performance please.

    Thank you,

    Brian

That Skunkworks Cat is a real beauty Brian!
No, I never did a thread.

I'll post some pictures tonight but I purchased the ARTR HOR cat off ebay. It came with a 380 motor and 70 amp non BEC ESC from HOR. All I have done so far is remove the 380 and replace it with the SV27 stock motor. I had to flip the motor mount around to make extra room for the bigger flex coupler. I even had to cut off about 1/4 inch of the motor shaft on the stock SV27 motor.
I put the x438 prop on and have ran it twice so far. X437/3 works better.
My plan is to swap out the square flex drive at some point. I honestly didn't expect the hull to handle as well as it did. Really fun boat to drive.

The Mystic is STILL in the paint shop. I got this one to hold me over for the winter. Had some decales make to simulate the Aqua-Mania Skater(used to be Bud Select).

Where have you guys found the strut to run the best?
I have my COG right about 9.5 inches from the bottom of the back sponsons.
I didnt realize they ran that paint w/ Aquamania. Last I saw it here in FL it was the bud boat... and Bacardi before that. So I take my comment back... Tom, you even painted it like the previous Aqua Mania boat!! Nice!!!

Im going to start my Skunk build soon and am pretty set on painting it like the current A.M. scheme.. except I think Im going to use shades of blue rather than the Orangy red.

              New to the Forum

I have been watching these builds and watching what everyone has done for about a year and a half so now i just bought a ARTR boat I also purchased some qty2) 2s 30c 4000 LIPO's for the stock setup. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Is there anyone that has some performance info for what I can expect from the stock setup. Any video?

I have some Q's about a few things as far as doing my upgrade shortly after.

I am gearing up to run the following

              Fiegao 540 8xl
              Hobbywing Seaking 120A ESC
              2) 3s 30c 4000 mah LiPo
              octura 442

I plan on doing some reinforcing with the carbon cloth in the tunnel and also adding some foam to the sponsons in front of the added bulkhead. All before the above upgrade.

Is this a goner right away I am very new to Brushless and would love to learn more. My Business is keeping me from spending more time with it.

I run my own Machine shop so we will have a few goodies to make.

I have a friend who will be making Wraps for these hulls very soon!!!!! we are going to carry them for what ever price he determines so I will keep you all informed if your interested. I love the wrap its simple and changeable, if you get bored with one look tear it of and get another we'll have some wild to mild designs.

Wraps are very cool here is a fullsize example

Ya, my wife says I have issues!
If you want to start a race team Tiqueman, the Skater is for sale! Driver or throttleman? I'm not picky

Last I saw they were asking $495,000.00

Your Skunk build will look sweet in the shades of Blue.

                Welcome Mac,
I do not know anyone that has run the stock ARTR version with the 380 motor in it. It seems pretty small to me for that size hull.

Welcome to the forums Mad Mac! Your post started out on the right track and then went a bit amiss. An 8XL is a wonderful set up and on a 442, youd start very close to if not perfect. However, your on the right track w/ the 2 - 2S lipos in series as 4S. You will get by on the 120, but your really close to maxing it out. On a 442, within 10A or so. An 8XL is not a good idea on 6S, if you want it to last. And certainly not a sport boat or race boat set up. It would be a couple SAW passes, just to say "Wow!"... You will have a mid 40s boat on an 8XL on 4S which the HOTR hull will handle wonderfully. Im curious to know how your RTR runs, as Ive been asked by a few how fast it may go, and have noly guessd low/ mid 30s on a 3S set up, which is what I rhink is recommended.. at least in the set ups Ive seen as RTR. So keep us posted and good luck w/ the hull. You will without a doubt love it.

Tom, Im all over it. Tell you what, I will get the 000.00 part if you pick up the 495 part. I dont care either, we will alternate on driving and throttleing.

Tigueman what would you suggest running as far as a ESC? if the 8 XL won't handle a pair of 3s LIpos will the 6 or 7XL I guess my figures aren't correct.

I would like to be in the mid fifty's as far as speed, it will just be a pond stalker. Just for the wow factor, I never plan on racing I just want to run it on the edge.

Low 60's is over the edge for this boat that's just getting out of hand.

Thanks for the input I do appreciate the help and look forward to getting the boat, just about as giddy as a fat kid in a doughnut shop. I can't wait!!!

I have some plans as far as rigging I just hope the stock stuff isn't ridiculous to remove but maybe that will be a reason for a bare hull. I can let my son take over the stocker.

10XL on 6S will get you in the mid 50s. 11Xl would still get 50+ and you could use the 120A

HAHA.. youd think 60 would be outta control... have a look My twin HOTR, 66.7mph. Im hoping to break 70 next week

As for rigging. Stock hardware doesnt get much better for this boat. Inside you can do whatever you want. But Id leave the drive hrdwr alone. Its the same hrdwr sold here on OSE... same bracket and rudder I run on mine.

EDIT Oh and as for ESCs... if your wanting to stay budget and have a great ESC, the Turnigy 180 could do it for you. Its a 2-6S controller. Some do not like to run at max capacities. Some dont mind it. Im running my 120s on 6S. I have no heat issues at all and so far they are outstanding esc's. I run an Etti Opto 150 (2-7S) in my single 32" cat, 4S on an 8Xl and runs about 46mph.

I plan on leaving the stock rigging as far as all the hard parts just battery trays and servo mounts is what I was referring to.

So here is the new suggestion list

                        2) 3s 30c Lipos 4000 mah
                        1) feigao 10xl
                        1) Turnigy 180 Marine
                        1) 442 Octura

I will go for this setup and see how she works

I am almost convincing myself to just get another hull on the way add the rigging and the special touches I planned for.

Who do you guys buy carbon plate in bulk from and carbon cloth?

What is your favorite resin to lay cloth with and favorite epoxy for hard mounting?

                        Thanks again.

                        Mac

That sounds like a fun set up!

I get my carbon cloth from Fiberglast.com and I make my own sheets. Costs A LOT less to make your own and it EASY!!!!
