This is the latest on my build the only thing I have left to install is the servo but I cant seem to come up with a mount that satisfies me, but I'll work on this tommorrow and try to get this in soon. Does anyone know what kind of solder I would have to use to solder the steering cable to the rod?? As soon as I get the steering taken care of I can get this thing in the water.

strut level as a start, hull on a table, strut should sit flat on it, bottom of strut = bottom of hull

Ok, did the first test run.

Strut was at the highest possible setting.

        Prop x440, 4s ,8xl , himodel 200A -set the timing at 7deg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipmljzz9M40

Sounds little like a turbine boat :)

Temps in celcius : 45 motor,47 esc and cold batts after 3minute run,(did the first temp check after 1 minute temps were 45 motor and 37 esc)

Will test the s220 (prather 220) prop tomorrow

I think that the sponson proplem wasn`t so bad after all. I get my hull next week and i will be using 7xl and himodel 200A esc. I wonder how it moves.

I looked at my HOTR cat today and it also has the 'canted' sponsons. I think it must be intentional.

Looks like a good combo. I have an 8XL laying around that I could put in my HOTR cat. I will need to change out the 'square drive'. (I hate those things). I would love to see your cat running on some smoother water! Looks like it will rip!

Good run Pate, considering the water conditions she ran very nice. Good Job Your temps are like the 8xl isn't doing any work at all. Can't wait to see her run on calm water and the 220, should be cool

                    Just returned from 2nd run.

                    s220.

Temps 52 motor,55 esc (67 caps) -how hot is concired safe for esc -80c ?

Gps 65kmph. after I took it out, it looked much faster.

I have some video footage too, will upload it tomorrow.

On takeoff the left side lifts out of water and it jerks to the right aswell -until wot it settles. -prop issue or hull?

I had to use my old batts... -cause I soldered the dam bullets wrong on esc...(I had soldered the bullets on my old batts the wrong way b4 and did the same on esc´s end...) -the new batts came with bullets installed so I dont want to mess with them. When I come back home I´ll redo the plugs on esc and old batts.

                        Nice first run.
When you get some smoother water you should be able to work up to an X640 prop or the X642. A detounged X642 would be ideal I think but I haven't tried one yet.
Be sure to keep the bottom of the strut slightly above the sponson level. When I tried it about 1/8" below the sponsons the temps were right up there.
I raised it 1/16" at a time & the temps dropped quite noticably each time.
The X642 should get you over 80k/hr.
                        All the best.

                          Thanks guys!

Paul, the problem is that the strut is allready at the highest setting.

I may try strut angle changes next.

Does the highest setting put the bottom of the strut level with or slightly higher than the sponsons? If it does then there shouldn't be a problem.
If it doesn't, simply file a bit out of the slot in the strut with a small round file.
That should give you a bit more adjustment.
                            Cheers.

yës, the strut and sponsons are at the same height .(all 3 points on the table)

I would like to get prop a bit higher since it wont cavitate at all. I´ll try angling the strut a bit tomorrow.

The best way is to lengthen the slot in the strut with a file. That way you can raise the strut without changing the angle too much. That's what I had to do.
If you just angle the strut the bow will come up more at speed & possibly blow over. You can move your batteries forward a bit to counteract it.
                                Cheers.
