Ray.
It is a TP Power 40X55mm for the ribbed motor. I can't remember where I bought it & I can't find it at any of the sites I usually buy things from. But I remember that there were no grooves in it for the o rings, as they fitted between the fins.
I'll keep looking.
Mike.
I might have just been lucky so far. Only had a couple of failures so far & they were because an ESC & BEC ignited & fried the receivers. Water has made a couple of others play up but after pulling the cases apart & drying them out, they are good as gold again.
I don't even run the antennas outside the boat. The just lay inside the boat near the transom. This is not something I would suggest doing unless you really trust your equipment.See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

Paul...So far with the Futaba 3MP-X system I have not had any glitches at all. Been very solid and that is with the ant. also just laying in the boat. If I use any kind of carbon fiber I just make sure the ant. lead is well away from any of that. Many guys here had god success with the OrangeRX receivers in their aircraft so I'm thinking they should be a good alternative for the boats as well.
Pete....great little experiment there....I guess that tells all doesn't it. Who knew??...lolComment

Finally getting back to building
Hey fellow boat builders.....Well February was quite a busy month for some reason and my boat building slowed to a crawl.
But the past few weeks have been pretty productive and things are moving forward. Been kind of splitting time between to builds...this P-Sport and my Q-Sport GSX380 build which also has a thread going.
Completed the hardware install, made some modifications to the motor mount plate and a big thanks to Pete for pointing out that the cooling can on the TP-4060 motor was a bit on the small side 50mm....so went with the OSE 65mm cooling can which I think will be much more efficient.Received my Virginia Craftsman turn fins with back-plates from Dick and got it mounted.
Moved on to completing the sponsons......filled with expanding foam, sanded and epoxied the decks on. Completed the initial form sanding and that really has the boat looking pretty mean....LOL Also cut and sanded the nose piece out of bass wood. Made sure as others to drill some lightening holes in the nose with a spade bit that really worked out nice. Then moved to complete cutting out the cowling and hatch cover. Completed the final sanding on the cowl to fit the nose piece and used some West system G-Flex 655 epoxy to reinforce the seam on the upper and lower cowl halves. This G-Flex 655 did a great job and did not weaken any part of the plastic cowl.....Guess the folks at West System know what their talking about...
So finished off some glass work on the hull bottom around the stuffing tube and we are about ready for the final sealing, sanding, prime and paint. Was so impressed with HOK paints on my last project, I decided to complete both projects with HOK. After a lot of research, I'll be leaving the cowl in its normal state (white). The hull will be in a Candy Apple Red Metallic and white graphics.
More to come once I start painting.Comment

I don't know about the driving part Keith....LOL It was my first time racing last year and I had my share of accidents out there....well at least one. The biggest problem I had was seeing coming out of turn 2, the back stretch and going into turn 3.....hard to make the depth judgement on exactly where a dead boat might be. I actually took a deer stand out to the lake where I practice to get myself higher and that makes a huge difference in being able to see those areas. But I think its just getting practice in to get use to what your looking at. Of course my eyes are not getting any younger.....LOLComment

Getting closer!!
Well the Pearl is about ready for prime and paint. The west system sealing coat is complete. Just waiting for everything to cure correctly then give it a final sanding and cleaning. I had such good success with HOK products on my 1/8 scale I decided to go the same route. KD3000 epoxy primer. Then spraying a silver base coat and finishing up with a Kandy Apple Red. Of course it will all be finished off with a couple coats of clear. The silver is used as a base under the kandy apple red to really brighten it up. Hopefully I get the affect I'm looking for.
Trying to find the plastic clear that Paul used on his plastic canopy or something similar.
Well time to get the paint booth put together and test out my painting skills again....LOL

Yea...exiting turn Two and entering turn Three was my biggest problem. Seems like a radio adjustment (end point on rudder, rudder speed) will help. My cheap Aquacraft radio has very little adjustment.
The Candy Apple Red is going to look good. I also like the Gold top , Black sides and bottom, and Red pin stripe Smokey Yunick color combinationComment
