Found a bright LED for the transom and shortened the rudder bracket as suggested.

Fab'd a semi adjustable support for the stuffing tube, just need to glue it down yet.

Some battery, ESC, resistor bits to work out....
In semi-darkness, looks good....can't wait to see a rooster tail lit up behind her!!

I've been slowly working on her, sanding, adding nose blocks to the hull and sponson's, another light coat of epoxy on all, primer and paint on some. Got the new hatch and figuring how I want to add some topside LED's.
Still not sure how I want to finish the colors, but I'm digging black and white right now :)
Starting motor is a middle of the road Leopard 2850-3790kv that I could start with 2s (possibly move to 3s) using my 80A Castle ESC.
I can almost squeeze a Hobbywing 120 under the pack but it's tight.
Give me another month or so and I'll be shooting some video!!
          Here's where I am tonight:

Hey all, I have a question for those in the know, is the ski required or recommended for this rigger?

Paint is done and I'm reassembling tonight, just don't know if I have to make a ski for this little guy.

            Thanks!

I've not tried either the mini or the .12 without, but I have tried my .21 with and without, and with my setup it didn't make much difference at all, I left it off.

I would keep the ski in the .12 as it helps the boat to get on plane quickier and carry the transon with less load...never tried without any of my Jae's.Gill

When I built a 12 fe previously, I added 1/4 inch to the ski for additional lift due to extra weight over the nitro version. The idea was per ton g, the original designer. It worked, I played with several different skis and they do make a difference

Maiden Voyage Of The JAE .12 Christmas Rigger!!

Well, I had this girl ready to run this summer, but I finally got around to making the Maidan tonight before the next Christmas gifting started!!
Unfortunately the camera wasn't rolling for the first 5 minutes of the run, but I managed to capture the last minute of battery life while my buddy was making some short laps. This thing looks AWESOME on the water
It looks like it's on fire!

I plan to do some more tuning and stepping up the speed a bit, but I am super pleased with tonight's maiden voyage

Here's a clip of the video:

I needed a 12v and 7.4v supply for them so I'm tapping off the balance plug of a little 3s 610mAh LIPO. I built a little resistor board for the red LED's and ran a cooling line across them to keep 'em cool. Worked really well!
