That's going a bit too far I think. I just read the labels man. And then do what it says. And somehow remember it. But I did check up on the finishing resin to make sure though.
We decided on ring magnets for holding down the cowling to the deck at the front & the sub hatch at the rear.
Simply recessed one into the deck & hatch with a bit of extra ply underneath. Then fitted some ply spreaders into the cowling with the ring magnets recessed into them.
A piece of carbon fiber rod was epoxied into the magnets in the deck & hatch. They protrude through the magnets in the cowling & locate it onto the deck & stop it from sliding around. The little Neodymium magnets have a pulling force of 2.6kg each.
So that's a total of over 10Kg holding on the hatch. I though it might be a bit too much but the hatch comes off relatively easily. Whether it stays in place in a flip will be for Trev to find out. He! He!
Well that's the end of the contract.
All finished & with two coats of epoxy sealer.
It's heading off this evening to be fitted out & painted.
It's been fun.
Just a bit of an update.
The hull is now painted yellow & is having all the hardware & driveline refitted. It's really a bit brighter than in the photos. You can actually see your face in the finish paintwork.
Should be racing in the next round of 1/8 scale at our club.

Man that thing is slick, I just see one problem. The deck and cowl is crooked, your ruler must be off. I think you should use a different one or have that one checked by the ruler guild....
Well buddy.
You know how it is. Everything is downside up, down here, & sometimes you read from the wrong end of the ruler & don't compensate properly..
Yes.
The original boat & the original kit has the offset hatch cowling & powerplant to the left for the normal left hand circuit. But our club decided to run the 1/8 scales to the right like all our other classes. So the tub & drive line was offset to the right to keep the weight on the inside of the turns.
You can order the kit from ML Boatworks with the offset to the left or the right, depending on which way you want to run.
The boat was painted by an Auto painter. I'm not sure what type of paint he used. The owner of the boat (Trev) might know. I'll see if I can find out.
Im a deep v man :).... may be a long time before i get into hydro. dumping lots o mula into this spartan. new to the hobbie. wanted to find something enjoyable that wouldnt turn into a JOB.
