    Experimental Genesis 'M' hull.

I've always wanted to build an M hull boat since seeing the Stiletto concept M hull design some years ago.

February 5, 2006 The M80 Stiletto Experimental Vessel was launched this week offering a sneak peak at the next generation of military vessels. The Stiletto is an operational experiment by the Pentagon’s Office of Force Transformation (OFT) and its revolutionary carbon fibre structure and hull…

So I received 2 factory seconds Genesis cats from TFL. Thanks Monica.
An hour after they were delivered, they looked like this.

It's a fun experiment at this stage, but if it is successful I might run it in our EC Off Shore Cat class. (12s)

Haven't decided on two or three motors yet, but three 4092 motors will fit easily.

So is the center sponson to be deeper?

I hadn't thought of that. The two halves aren't joined yet. Just posing for the pics. So I guess I should run some tape down the seams first. Good call.

can't wait to see it run.
Neither can I. But it might take a while as I have 3 other builds on the go already.

So is the center sponson to be deeper?
No. It's exactly the same as the outside sponsons. But because of the original dihedral & where it was cut the shape ends up being an inverted V. (see the pic) Maybe that will pack some air of its own & create a bit of lift.
Maybe it will cause problems. Who knows? It can always be filled in with foam & glass later if needed.

            Paul.

Weird, but cool. Triple with a dual rudder. I'd do the two part foam now. Make sure you fill the tips up with some epoxy. I usually put 20 to 30 grams in each tip in hopes that it will stay together better in the even of a collusion with something.

Yep. I'm leaning towards a triple set up. Just because, well, why not. It's begging for it.

Paul, a very interesting build. If you go for a triple drive (I assume one in each sponson), then you should look at mixing the throttles and steering. The inner and outer drives will be a long way apart....

But you clearly have too much time on your hands, so I'll send a couple of my race boats over for you to finish!

Being 'Down side Up' all day can cause a Momentary Lapse Of Reason from time to time.

I've sanded the join lines all square & flat & added a couple of pieces of aluminium in for the rudders to bolt on to. I'll just drill & tap into them for the bolts.
I've also just added a strip of glass cloth around the outside seams as suggested by jcald2000.
The two halves will be joined together in the morning when the resin has cured. Then a strip of cloth around the inside of the hull along the join line.

I know that Trev has been playing with a throttle mixer in his cat. Not sure how that's going so far.
But we'll see what she does first. Bigger corners on the off shore course.

If you are going to race them against me, they won't be finished very well.

The throttle mixing is a 'very' fine line to tune. I was playing with one on the Komodo build.
