So I measure, check, measure, measure and start marking and taping stuff off to prep for motor mount install. Strudder has been mounted. Here's what it looks like getting ready to set the motor in.....

Now that's some fancy tape work right there

Here's the motor tacked in....I'll remove the motor tonight, peel back a layer of tape and finish epoxy on the mount. I remove the motor so I can get to the backside the whole way. Once epoxy is applied I put the mounts back in so it dont move.

Are you planning on doing an esc plate on this rig? Looks good!

I'm going to do what I can. The new seaking v3 esc is making things hard on me to make things clean looking like I want and allow the wires to be as short as I want.

Progress. We decided to use the aeromarine bearing and seal assembly. Well I was bummed because it didn't fit. It was too long and too big around to fit with the motor sitting low like I want. What do I do? Throw the towel in? Nah, I then remembered I have a lathe. Let's make it work. It's not like any of the rest of the boat is a bolt together ordeal lol. Here's before....

                And after....

And now I use some 3/16 rod to make sure it's in perfect alignment.....

Think she's gonna be ready for her maiden this weekend. I'm pretty close now. Got the shaft cut, soldered and drive dog on it. Steering linkage is done. Servo mounted. I'm just waiting on epoxy to cure now. I started using those aluminum through hull fittings that the boot goes on. I like those much better than the little plastic push in collar. Used a stainless steering rod on this one. I want no rust. The aeromarine stuffing tube sell fit nicely. I wonder if I'm supposed to put a rubber cap on that fitting where you oil it? Hmmm.

I got tired of fooling with the nuts (lol) inside the transom for the strut mount. I made this do-dad with a carbon plate and some riv-nuts. Once in it will be epoxied. I originally drilled and tapped the epoxy and carbon plate inside the hull that I added for reinforcement but decided to go this route because I don't trust it holding the other way.

Makes life much easier when you make your own bolts. I drill tap aluminum square bar and it has been the best thing that I started doing. No more do I hear that crunch or pop when I tighten things, it sandwiches the transom and spreads out the clamping force.
