Birch ply with spacers to get it off the bottom of the hull and provide an area for velcro straps to go under. Cover the top of wood with velcro and bottom of batteries and you got a good system. Provided the tray is secured well with epoxy, gflex being the only one I would trust. It's a broad question and without detailed information I am really wasting my time. If you want good answers provide a question with details about your setup and pictures as well. If somebody asked you "what is the best rudder to use" how would you answer it with no background. Need to put some effort in if you want help

I like to make mine out of boat hulls, you can't get cheaper or lighter.

I would ask how big are the batteries first. Weight is a factor. The bigger the battery, the stronger they need to be. Cost is another factor. You can pick up some cheap wood material from your local HS. Or you can spend $20 or more on some carbon fiber sheeting and make something bulletproof! Wood won't hold down a 10s lipo after a crash at say 40mph or more. I use 10s2p and use CF hold downs with 4 HD straps. The hold down are anchored in with SS 30mm hex head screws that screw into an anchor nut epoxied into the bottom of the hull.

Post some pictures of the inside of the boat or atleast make and model and batteries being used. Supplying no information is making people generalize and may not be suitable for your setup. You can see people are willing to help so if you put a little effort in on your end you will get the information you need and not waste other peoples time.

This is supposed to be a friendly forum, not a bashing. If he's wasting your time then don't browse the thread and leave a paragraph comment.
