Hahaha 30 layers. That is insanely excessive. Those mounts would be able to hold a Mercury 525.

Pretty cool though. I wonder if they infuse them or have some sort of press?

It's not, really. Of course they could hold a much greater load, but what a lot of people don't think about is the actual surface area of the mount that meets the hull. The thinner the mounts are, the more likely they are to damage the hull in certain severe crashes.

I know this build has been a bit cold lately guys...sometimes that's just how it goes. This one is on the "back burner" while I work on more pressing builds. This coming weekend is the record trial event in Flint. As soon as I return from trials I'll be getting back to the 185 build, so expect some progress in the next couple weeks. If this were a customer build it would be done by now, but of course my personal stuff is always on the bottom of the list!

Ok, I made some time to do a few things on the 185 this weekend. I'd like to run her on Father's Day, so I need to move it up on the priority list a bit.

Here's a pic of the drives mounted. Once the drives are mounted, I'll need to get started on mounting the motors. I've already got the front motor mount plates made, just need to accommodate the rear.

                Thanks Chris.

These are made from 6061 aluminum and will serve as rear supports to the motors in conjunction with a carbon fiber motor ring:

Here's a look with the ESCs and pack voltage displays mounted. These will mount to the side of the hull, inside the sponsons, keeping power and motor wires as short as possible. This ultimately lowers resistance and keeps things running cooler, and also keeps the tunnel nice and clean. Some of the tunnel area will be utilized to support the hull as well. It's a strong hull already, but considering that it's weight will be in the 40's, I prefer to add some extra support beyond the inlay.

Some more parts for the 185...
The smaller piece is a deck to tunnel support, and the larger is a servo mount, deck to tunnel, and tunnel support. The design of these pieces allows me to mount the parts needed and stiffen the top side, but also provide additional support from front to back.
