    Build with 3080 /8 lehners http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk07W...e_gdata_player
But later transferd to TP 5850 /820 engines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbZeY...e_gdata_player
currently he is running the TP 5850 /1000 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U76J...e_gdata_player
These tp weight is half of the lehner and power about the same.

    Interesting.
    I use the same tp' s for a 1,70 meter sv43 .
These motors are a beter buy than the lehners , 1/3 price and very good.
I have owned 3060 lehners but not any more the 6pole tp's are more efficient current wise as they have more torque.
I know the build quality and barrings is A little better from the lehners, but really for the running time these motors make the tp are defenetly a better buy.

Good luck with your build .
    Greats Ramon
Thanks for the info Ramon. I've actually ran a lot of TP motors, probably have went through 50+ of them building boats. I think they're a great value but have never experienced an increased (or even equal) efficiency over Lehner. I have seen Mudl's boat (I'm assuming that's what you linked). Perhaps his situation is unique because the boat is so large, and RPM is low. I suppose it's possible that his other setup put him over a weight threshold that had a negative effect. I have tested a number of setups with lehner 22 series vs TP 40 series and the lehner are much, much more efficient. The TP motors also all failed at a much lower RPM, and the problem of magnets cracking and jamming against the windings, locking the rotor, was a common one. Since a jammed rotor will typically ruin an ESC 100% of the time (and often then the inside of the hull), I would rather not gamble with Chinese motors in a boat of this caliber.

--There are a few nerds out there that I think would love to see what these monsters do in the wattage department, not gunna say names or anything lol
More than I need for this one I'm sure!
I debated for a long time on this build. It's hard to choose a heavier motor in a build where you know the boat is already going to be heavy no matter what. In the end it comes down to about a 2% weight difference to go with the 3080s over 3060s, and I guess I'll take the 2% just to have the cool factor of the 3080s. I don't think anyone would ever notice 2% out on the water, or even carrying it down to the water.

I'm not sure about the sled system yet...that part is still up in the air.

I'm going to be picking away at this one slowly, but I'll try and post bits and pieces when I can.
I coated the rudder on this one gloss black. Actually, I originally did it black with a lime green KBB logo (the boat silhouette), but I decided that it took away from the boat and I went back to an all black rudder. I love the rudders on these MHZ mystics, and I love them twice as much when they're coated black.

            Hi Keith,

Ray with the Red Bull CT04 here. I just wanted to compliment you on the build. Its looking outstanding already. I love the honeycomb inlay and rudder. I always like following your builds. I have no doubts that it will be top notch. EXCELLENT choice on your electronics. Best of the best! How is Steve going to paint this one?

Thanks Ray, good to hear from you.
This one has actually already been to Steve and back for a simple paint job (much more simple than we're used to seeing from Steve!). I'll be taking some pics of the outside before the build is over. It's a dark cyber gray, with lime green KBB logos and a couple stripes. It's definitely an elementary scheme for Steve, but of course his execution was perfect as always.

What's that age old saying? Less is more???? :) I have NO doubts that its perfect since Steve Miles put his magical hands on it. Following this build. Take care brother!

I'm finishing up a customer build right now and will get back to this one shortly (my stuff always comes last!). I sent one of my drives to a friend that needed one after a mishap with his 185, so I had to wait for more to come in. Meanwhile I've been coming up with some ideas for this one...

It's powder coat. Are you familiar with the powder coating process?

These motor mounts were made from solid KBB carbon fiber. For those of you that have done carbon fiber inlays in your hulls, you know how much one or two layers of carbon can add in strength, even when only done as a "wet layup". These were made from 30 layers of carbon fiber cloth, done with a special method that only KBB uses.

Edges almost look like they have been seeled. Very nice.
