    Yep. Good idea! That's what I would do as well. If there isn't a backer, you can cut a window in the side of the sponson and slip one in. Then, glue the window back on.

      thanks pete what is your strut depth....ill try my h 5 on it...my biggest problem isn't speed its keeping it wet side down

        Sorry Ron. Forgot about this! My strut measures 0.81" from the bottom of the strut to the bottom of the hull. I've been starting new boats with the centerline of the prop shaft at the same height as the bottom of the sponson pads and it's worked out well for me so far. Not much adjustment from there. No angle.

          What type of wood did you use? Hardwood or soft, Species?
