No doubt you are going to see some performance degradation in that last lap or so with 4200mah. They shouldn't puff though. What prop are you using? A lot of us are running H5's and we are on the threshold of destruction, especially in the summer when the temps are up. Last year I ran 10,000mah in my LSH!! (2 4S 5000 packs in parallel). The boat was fast all 6 laps.

When my Grimracer 4200 packs puffed I was using a m445 with a little cup added. Boat was really fast at the start, but slowed noticeably. A Tenurgy 5000 45c packed puffed also. So I switched back to the better Hyperion 5000 packs.

@Mike - I'll just sharpen the rudder to compensate for the speed loss!!!
Hey, maybe that rough surface on the top will slow the air flow down creating a higher pressure on the top, thus no blow overs! I still can't believe it blew over 5 frickin feet from the finish. Woulda been a PERFECT 1200pt maiden race day!!!
@D - I'm surprised those Grim packs puffed. I've always had very good luck with those.Comment

Sharpening hardware? Don't tell me you're gonna switch from the tried and true shock oil as well.Comment

Well, it's been a long time since I posted anything. I've done a LOT of testing and I'm really happy with this boat. I've gone through 3 or 4 turn fins, about 3 strut adjustments, and various other tweaks here and there. Speeds are up near 55mph in LSH trim. I just wish it was running like this for the big race last month, then maybe I could have competed! Oh well!Attached FilesComment

It would be best if there was Aluminum inside in order to tap it for bolts. Wood screws will only hold so long depending on what power you are using; LSH or P-Sport?

Well... If you need to drill a pilot hole for a screw to mount it anyway, just drill into the wood with a 1/16" bit and you'll know fast if there is any backer in there. Hopefully there is.Nortavlag Bulc
