One thing I see in a thread like this over & over again are suggestions to just buy another boat. Do we really give up that easy? Don't anyone want something just a little different anymore? EVERYONE has and SV27 & sure they are nice and afforadble. But my point is... Gumby you can do this and it is WAY cheaper than an sv27 or building a delta.

You can go to himodel.com and pick up a set...Yes I said a set of 70 amp brushless esc's for 50.00 dollars + shipping. Then Swing over to United Hobbies and pick up a set of KD7L brushless motors for 28 dollars per unit + shipping. So you are looking at about 120 to 130 for a dual brushless system.

That being said it's not a simple project. You will need 5mm pinion gears. I have a link to a sit that sells them. You may also have to water cool the esc's. Simple but it takes some time and add's plumbing work along with extra water pickups. While your are at it cooling the motors may not be a bad idea either. All said and done you are looking around 150.00. I for one would like to see this project done.
Hope this helps you decide whats best for you.

hmmmm, this guy ran 7s feigaos which is a hotter motor than those other ones i posted and it sounds like he has plenty of torque and judging from the video thats almost exactly what i want out of my villain, quick but still stable. I trust you guys because you have far more experience than me so did he just get lucky? If i'm missing something(probably) then fill me in.

and also(and i mean no offense to anyone here) some are saying that the motors would burn up while others say the driveline would suffer, which is confusing. would the 2700kv motors have enough torque that i should worry about the driveline, or would it be too weak that i should worry about seeing smoke. Basically, do i need higher kv rating or lower?
            thanks

and i won't be running high power cells or esc's, it'll be a fairly low power system to keep it reliable(and affordable) so i wasn't too concerned about ruining anything, but i don't have any experience with brushless in boats, just airplanes.

If you read the last couple of posts he's running 2 6 cell nimh packs in parallel for a total of 7.2 volts.

Yea, 7.2v per esc/motor, right? Thats what i was planning on doing, i guess i forgot to mention that.

I found these gears by HPI they are .06mm pitch and the traxxas gears are .32 pitch. Any one know if they are compatible ??? I hope so cuz I just bought two.

you got me on the gears, i have no idea. Hopefully they work fine because it'd be great if you could put in metal gears.
