TWIN brushless traxxas villain

I havent read the article but i see what your saying the upgrades that blast has are prolly around 200 bucks not that bad for what it has to offer. i think after i get my sv27 and tool around with that then ill mod the villain.

Be sure to look into the Black Jack as well, It has a steerable outdrive and would perform more like your Villain than the SV27 would.

One thing I see in a thread like this over & over again are suggestions to just buy another boat. Do we really give up that easy? Don't anyone want something just a little different anymore? EVERYONE has and SV27 & sure they are nice and afforadble. But my point is... Gumby you can do this and it is WAY cheaper than an sv27 or building a delta.

You can go to himodel.com and pick up a set...Yes I said a set of 70 amp brushless esc's for 50.00 dollars + shipping. Then Swing over to United Hobbies and pick up a set of KD7L brushless motors for 28 dollars per unit + shipping. So you are looking at about 120 to 130 for a dual brushless system.

That being said it's not a simple project. You will need 5mm pinion gears. I have a link to a sit that sells them. You may also have to water cool the esc's. Simple but it takes some time and add's plumbing work along with extra water pickups. While your are at it cooling the motors may not be a bad idea either. All said and done you are looking around 150.00. I for one would like to see this project done.

so true avanti but i figured i'd work with my villain cause i have never taken apart a boat before or added parts so i just bought a sv27 to have fun with then i will work with the villian

there is nothing to it but to do it. take pictures as you go to help you with reassembly
the sv27 will make you nuts if you mod it. get a set of trim tab adjusters for it asap.

Would two of these be ok in a villain? i have the 7.2v version and i'm not really looking for insane speeds, mostly just increased efficiency and the awesomeness of brushless(i mean less maintanence). And they are also watercooled which is nifty. so would these be kind of a brushless equivalent of the stingers?

I'd like to see him do it too. But I would like to see it done without the gearboxes, more modding but I think it would be more reliable.

It would need the gearing in order to work. The big stock props would burn up those affordable motors in seconds flat.

they would fit yes but you would also need two brushless ESCs and a y connector to hook them in your receiver. would make for a fun rig, don't forget about metal gears and u-joints in your driveline.

because of the kv? or what should i look for in a brushless motor, like i said i'm not looking to go 30 mph or so(i know, the villain doesn't do well at speed) i just want to go a bit faster and benefit from the other things brushless has to offer

i just bought my SV27 and it is coming soon but i was wondering besides the trim tabs what else should be done or bought to run it ASAP.
what batteries are better

Okay guys just wanted to say that i will be moding my villain to brushless. HELL YEA
but i have no clue how to make it cheap any fast, i was looking online for motors and esc and it comes out to be like 200 at the least for this project and ideas guys.
