If you're not careful, you'll have your winter build done before winter gets here.
    Looking excellent though.

Hi Bill, sadly the build has gone a bit backwards...

-The clear coat started to crack after few weeks of drying(I guess it was too cold when I painted this) So it needs repainting

No updates to post , this is not the only build I have going on, and 6 months to go until the boating season starts here.

Only batteries and esc´s are needed to get all the parts ready for cog and then the rest of this is going to be fast build .

Dont worry I will finish this build in time.

I don't know how fast you're looking to go, but if you want to push this thing hard. Can I'll give you a little bit of advice ? I would most definitely add 2 more hatch bolts right in the center of the Hatch. Second under the hatch where the bolts go through add cf plate and epoxy a 25mm x 25mm piece should be fine. This way you get a ton more strength so the bolt can't pull through the hatch, and you then also have material to countersink the bolts. If you need pics let me know or you can check out my hpr build threads. Other than that the boat looks great keeep at it. I am looking forward to seeing it run.

              Chris, all advice is welcome!

I believe that you can never have too much securing, but this case the 4 m4 bolts that are secured to the hatch with carbon reinforcement ,big thumb screws (see the post #42 pic 4, other pics show the countersunk that I did not like)) and to the hull with 8mm carbon plates that have m4 nut under and another 3mm plate under that to hod the nut. this needs a jackhammer to come off if the nuts get loose inside :p

And today I took the cat out the closet, still alive but been a while since I have done anything to it.

Did some measuring and found what looks to be good place for the motors so I started to messing around with angles etc.

I just finished with first mount.(the stuffing tube needs final adjusting but it is close to final shape)

              P1050639.JPG

              P1050637.JPG

First time I tried coloring the epoxy with regular faskolor black,3 drops was enough to make the resin nice and black.

I did fix the mount first using carbon cloth and un colored slow cure stuff and covered that with the color layer so it has maximum strength.

Hi, nothing new yet, going back to school has taken so much time from this build that I may not get this finished for few months.

Biggest problem is hobbyking, they lost 2 of my last orders(2+ months a go) and still working with a solution.... so I will not order more stuff(like the esc´s and lipos) until I have received a refund or replacement parts of these previous orders. That delays this more.

-But I will get this done one day, hopefully before the summer.

Take your time with it. You may have a "collector's item" since Expresscraft is in the process of going out of business.

Wow, has it been this long since I have touched this thing...

First the excuses: met a girl, got married ,I now have a 7month old daughter. -And we moved 3 times.

Now that we are settled in our new home, I have some time to do something about this boat.

I just installed the 2nd motor mount yesterday.
                      1a.jpg

The couplers are really special, one has left and another right hand threading to make sure it wont get loosened accidentally.(from tough racing) I misplaced one and ordered new one day before I found the missing one -no biggie, It will go on my refurb apache build...
                      2a.jpg

The battery tray/sliders are not glued. Thinking about the placement still. Sponsons or tunnel? I have no batteries and cant afford new ones yet so I may just build a matching weights so I can glue these on.
                      3a.jpg

Need to strip the paint, re-paint,install new stuffing tubes(w/o teflon this time),cut the 1/4" flexes and bolt the drive bits. Then it is ready...

I learned that I will get a bonus in few days so I just ordered esc´s ( ihave the himodel 200A´s ready but they are few years old and not the greatest quality...)and batts (and charger, psu etc small stuff). -HK emailed me 25% discount code so I had to use it :D

Looks like this will get wet in few weeks!

The esc´s are Turnigy 180A -need suggestions about the timing!
                        Batts are 2x Turnigy Bolt 5400mAh 6S 22.8V 65~130C

Ordered pair of 45 and 51mm graupner props also, hoping that my old trusty L&R set of propshop stainless 5517/3´s are not too much for the electrics but will start from small.

Should sound cool with the outrunners. Nice buy on the motors, missed that sale, darn.

After 2 days of removing the paint (acrylic lacquer is hard to take off) ,using chemical paint remover, sanding sponge and scraper.

Now it needs block sanding with 240grit and then may need skim coat of filler on side seam. Then it is ready for primer.

                            11111.jpg

There was some spiderwebbing on the gelcoat, allready fixed these by dremeling the gel off and filling with epoxy+micro balloons.

Allready bought the paint. Guess what color? (hint: it is something from the 60´s and 70´s lemans gt40´s)
