@neal the pics were not put up for someone to directly copy, but mor to let people see how they wrk. If someone was going to copy them they dont need my 4-5 pics. They can go to the sources site and get just as many details and maybe more...... THE LAST THING I WANT IS FOR SOMEONE TO COPY STUFF FROM HANSPETER OR ANYONE ELSES DESIGNS..sorry for sending out the wrong message that I would want someone to coppy someone elses design.

Just remember that the Schulze 40.161WK is a whole different speedy to the ( Older ) Schulze 40.160 WK.
I had the NEW 40.161Wks on my twin HPR 135 with 1527's and they were close to there limit.

The older ones people used them for SAW and can take big amps.
You can still get them if you find someone selling them over on the german boards, but they still sell second hand for $500 - $600 U.S ..

Im sure you know this, but just for others that read this thread and think when they see a Schulze 40.160WK controller on a 3080 or a 2230 and think they can order a new one NOW the 40.161WK its not the same.
Heck it got me a while back..

        Nice build by the way.
        Love Kents Carbon fibre MAGIC!!

@ Ryan, I think you're spot on there. I have for ever been hunting for those old ones in good condition. But every time I see the price tag I RUN!!! Lol. Thanks for the compliments also, hope you can get your boat done soon.

@ Chris, I think you'll be fine. Running 12s you hopefully won't be pulling "too much over" the limit in burst. You should be good for around 7000w? Constant?

Seems as I may also have to add a comment here.

@ Ryan: I can absolutely confirm your post and knowledge about future xl 40.161 vs future old 40.160. And no chance that a new future xl 40.161 would have worked in those boats from Brian Neal.

For the boat of Chris: Those 3040/6 running on 12S is exactly the configuration I ran in my own HPR 135 SAW project. And thats why I did also recommend it. Difference is, I was using 40.160 and he is using 40.161. So from my experience I would say with an Octura X457, the setup he is using is capable of speeds up to 120mph. And 120mph is not a speed you just simply run. It could push more but hardly with those ESC's. With 2x 12S its a HV setup to keep current down but still when using some serious props. Already with those X457 and hard acceleration you are likely to see peak currents around 350-400A.

              For the lipo mount system:
Well in fact the CAD design for all HPR lipo mount systems comes from me. And I would bet, guys like Chris, Kent or Brian would confirm that the used CF material is not some stuff you can get anywhere but really high-strength PrePreg material which also makes those expensive but lightweigt. Its the same for the CNC work and design that Kent does. His parts are expensive but worth every penny! Well-engineered and well-manufactured.

              regards,
              Manuel

I can definitely agree that the cf plate used in hpr sleds/mounts are amazingly hard

Ok folks I finally got the motors. I must say they are pretty damn amazing. Anyways I soldered them up and bench tested. ( man do they have some power )In the pics below you will see what I did to make the triangle so I can run in wye configuration. I basically made a demplate of back of motor onto a pice of 3/4 in pine. Next I drilled out the holes with a 6mm drill bit. I then placed the 3 connectors in my jig where they would be on the actual motor. This held everything rite where I needed it to be.

                      Have cnc have wye.
Not sure where you're putting your controllers but this allowed me to solder 2"-3" long wires 90 degrees to the controllers.

                          Hi Brian,

cool solution. Whoever had that idea, must have been a top bloke

BTW: Having a CNC at home is something I'm still missing. Definitely nice machined, pure copper is tough.

                          regards,
                          Manuel

I have used this before in another application.
