Genesis twin 1st. build. appreciate all tips and hints

    Hello
I'm new here som please correct me if I do some thing wrong and excuse my poor norwegian-english:)

I got the hobbyking genesis with single motor and was playing around with it last sommer and what I thought was the most fun, was to jump waves and just play around. So I would like to make it more stable at mid speeds and inn the air and to get ridd of the torqe-roll.

So thats why I would try to make it twin and I have never built a boat before so it will be some experiance too.

Here's what i was thinking of the setup:
Motors: Stock 3674 2075kv or go up to turnigy 3674 2200kv. (got both)
    ESC: 2x Turnigy 120A
    Batterys: 4S 4,5Ah nano tech 35-70C
    Stinger: 80mm with 4mm shaft or 110 with 4,76.
Props: Aloy CNC 440 and upp to 445.

    First Question:
Which stingers to choose. Sorry for the norwegian site.
    This: http://www.rcmaritimenorway.no/index...product&id=129
    Or this: http://www.rcmaritimenorway.no/index...product&id=131

I have ribbed out the hull and thinking of letting the stock mounts stay. Might be som strength in them being there.
    Also made som motor mounts.
And some pictures of the layout trying to get the weight as lo as possible:

Aslo got a litle film of it with single setup:

tear out all the internals and add carbon fiber inlay. A twin setup will need the extra strength.

Here is a nice carbon inlay if you're unfamiliar with them. For twenty bucks and the size of sheet cut you can't beat Keith's deal.

Thank you, but it's not as nice as it seams. It's flat and without clear.
And it was hard work. It's ALOT of paint and stickers on the stock hull! I was sanding for a week.

Ok, Is it any smart way of tearing it out?
And what stingers should i buy?

            Ok
            Thanks for the tip.
Just ordered some fabric from hobbyking with my second ESC so i think i will have a look on those before i order anything more.

            Ordered this:

              Some updates:

I have been out shopping for some hardware and epoxy stuff.
Ended up with the 110mm stingers and 4.76 flex.
Also riped out the internals except the servomount. Waiting for the carbonfiber from HK to get started.

Nice, I hate waiting on the carbon inlay as the one little thing is so essential and derails most of the build lol.

Yea but for me it's nice to have some time to think everything through so it doesn't matter...

But I could not wait to drill some holes to test fit some of the hardware:)
It was impossible to mount the stingers lower than what I have done here and I put them as wide as possible without having to raise them since the boat is so narrow already.

Now the next challenge, how to bend the thin tubes without getting a kink in them?
I just have to make a slight bend upwards so I don't get a kink into the stingers.

Yesterday I found out that my local hardware store had carbon fiber so I could not help myself. I bought one square meter of 200g/kg and layed a layer in the hull.
Here is also a picture of my wonderful homemade tool to roll out the CF

                    27022013255.jpg28022013263.jpg

Today I have been bending and cuting the tubes.
In order to bend the tubes, I followed the advice in this film to heat it up and it worked nice:

I measured and measured and marked and marked, but I was never completely satisfied with the alignment so I assembled everything together and used a 4.76 mm copper pipe to simulate the flex shaft for those I have not cut yet. I glued just where I reached without disassemble anything so I have to take it in two stages to get it fully glued. Also have to mount the brackets for the tubes.
I used epoxy with bits of fibers in it, but that was just a mess so would not do that again.

                    28022013261.jpg28022013264.jpg28022013265.jpg

Then it is left to cut the flex shafts to be done with the drive.
So how is this usually done without getting split ends?
Is it perhaps common to have solder on where to cut?
And is an angle grinder with a cutting disc the right tool for this job?

Now I have come a bit further with the project.
Glued motor mounts and brackets for the tubes.

I also added 3 layers of carbon fiber to the transom of the boat as they seemed very thin.

                      02032013272.jpg03032013278.jpg

When it comes to cutting wire I have tested some different methods on the original 4mm sitting there as single engine version. I tried to silver solder where I would cut, but then I had to add so much heat that I think the flexibility of the material is reduced.
So I ended up tapeing well and cut with an angle grinder without soldering and the result was not so bad.

Did not get the camera to focus on the end of the flex:

                      03032013277.jpg

I then greased it up and mounted it. Had to cut the end of a allen wrench to get to the screw that holds the stinger.
Also started up the electronics on one side with 3S and it looks to be working fine.
Still waiting on the last ESC and servo from HK to get all done.

This is where it's tight to get to the screw:

Now I'm just waiting on the last ESC and servo from HK. It's not even shipped from Asia!

I have some pictures of the boat finished external
Should I shorten the rudder mount, or let it be so far back?

I stopped by the place where I usually test my boats and it has melted a lot, but is still a while until it is possible to drive there

You can also see the worlds largest ski jump in the background :)

Beautiful boat! I know this is your boat and etc but the single setup would be faster due to less weight with one less motor and one less esc and 4S lipos would weigh less in a narrow cat, just my 2 cents. The other side of coin; hope all works out and you achieve your goal, have a good day!
