DF Mini Storm - First build

So I bought this hull and some of the parts of Rundog a while ago. I ordered up the rest of the hardware and had to re-order a couple different things once I got the hull and realize how tini the transom actually was! Made me think a mini wasn't the best idea for a first build. But it turned out pretty good once I got the right hardware. The only think I wish I had done differently would have been to put the rudder push rod through the transom between the rudder and strut. But thats what I get for mounting some hardware without having everything. I made the battery mounts out of a carbon sheet and the servo mount out of aluminum which worked out well and some other details like how I attached the hatch etc. I did a bad job painting the windshield though so I have to re-do that, wrong paint.

I have run it 4 times and have the CG and strut angle running well, I need to try some other props now though. I was using a 32mm CNC HK prop which was not bad but I want more pic up from cornering and full stops. I was only seeing temps of 75-80 so I think I'm safe to prop up. Just balanced an X632 which I'm sure I will have to detounge, but I will try it first. Thinking a detounged X435 would be good.

I'm open to help with set up!

I run duel Nano-tech 2s 2200mA 40c batteries, the traxxas replacement ones which are tini
    Leopard 2845 4700kv
    Turnigy 60A ESC
    Traxxas waterproof mini servo

Have to figure out how to rotate pics..

Southwest - I am obviously new to setting up boats and am doing my best to learn more about props as I go. I know the unmodified 632 will be to much but I am going to try it anyway before I do anything more to it. I have also thought about changing the motor, its just what came with the hull when I got it. Playing with the strut angle has made the biggest difference so far and I have also realized that the trim tabs do nothing on this boat, they are slightly positive right now(useless) - strut adjustment does more then enough. Keep in mind I am not racing, doing it because I like building and modifying and learning what does what - Bigger batteries are for run time, so not worried about that.

I am open to input such as yours as I am just only just working on getting it set up.

and by BRAKE you mean what? the gap between the drive dog and the hub?

Good job on the build! Try the x632. Your temps are very low currently. Just keep an eye on temps, and short runs to start. Love to see some vid if you get a chance!

Thanks - pretty happy with the first one - Learnt a couple things along the way, like what was the wrong epoxy for example - had to remove and re epoxy everything

I will get a vid for sure next time I'm not out alone.

There's a guy who put his camera on the left side of tx with velcro and takes practice as it isn't normal, what's normal, to run tx at eye level for videos. I'm done.

Thanks for the updated post Southwest. Good to hear you making a good recovery!

Some good points in there I will play around with, I'm sure there are lots of little tricks that come with experience.
