The prop in the picture is only a place holder. I'll leave the required gap when I install the appropriate prop. I have a CNC 52mm 3 blade prop which will be the first one I'll be using and then I'll be moving up in size until I find the right one.

Thank you zx11976r the paint job credits are for Dana Wilson (DaVette Boats) who followed the paint scheme I designed and the colors I selected. As soon as you start the paint stage, the rush to finish will accelerate...keep on it. BTW the current boat weight is 12.5lbs w/o batteries.

          Hello Folks,

Painting and hardware setup has been completed and retrieval hook has been installed (it had to be cut to fit). The servo had to be relocated and a new platform was developed to be able to have a straight rudder pushrod (no bends). Here are the pics. Next step electronics and batteries setup.

A gorgeous boat! I'm waiting to see a run report - hope we don't have to wait too much longer...

Thank you Fluid. I'll finish setting up the electronics next week and then order the batteries as soon as the wallet gets some breathing...

                Boat is almost ready!

I finally got a chance to work on the boat last night and was able to solder all the electronics except the battery leads. ESC to Motor leads are ready (for "Y" or "star" conection at 730Kv on the AquaStar motor and 910Kv on the Proteus later on), anti-spark connectors soldered on ESC to battery leads, waterproof test passed (I had to remove the trim tabs and apply a bed of plumber's putty and installed them back), silicone applied to stuffing tube transom exit, cable management done and rudder was cut off 1" shorter after measurement taken with a 59mm prop. Water lines to ESC still need to be cut to fit the new distances.

Here are some pictures of the electronics installation. The ESC is temporary fastened with zip ties, I had to move it further towards the bow for the cap bank to fit on the platform. This weekend I'll be soldering 5.5mm connectors to the batteries and hopefully be able to run its maiden.

                  Very nice job you did,
It looks like a sea drone of some kind with the hatch setup it has.
Can not wait to see it on the water running.

It finally run her maiden today. I installed the Proteus x524 at 910kv with 3 blade 5214 CNC alu propeller dia 52mm pitch 73mm 1.4p. Weather was in the low 70's, sunny skies and almost no wind. I only run her 2 minutes today. Here is the report:

                    The good:
This thing is fast! (I can only be subjective here no GPS at hand)
Rooster tail above 5 FT? when acceleration picks up...
All electronics were around the mid 90’s
                    No water intrusion
Her colors really came to life under the sun, beautiful paint.
It fits in my Honda civic trunk

                    The not so good:
It takes time to accelerate (maybe not the right prop selection), but when it takes off watch out!
When I opened the hull there was some smoke like a light fog, I believe from the stuffing tube oil and flex cable friction (The collect was warm to the touch. Any suggestions here?)
When it finally accelerates I realized the pond was now too small

The speed is great! It is just that at the beginning the prop seem to have a hard time biting. Do you have any idea about how to make the acceleration better?

Here is the data log I downloaded from today's run. Can anyone help me decipher it? Thx!

Had to go to an aftermarket cooling jacket for the Proteus. The stock jacket is useless.

Here are some still pictures because I was alone at the pond.

                      Look good.
Once it got going and was up on plain,
Was it running wet with the bow down ?
It look like your peak amps were 60 for that run,
                      And that is nice.
You said the coupler was warm, That could be from the motor heat.
Was the coupler tighten enough to the flex shaft ?

                        Hello Lenny,

Once it got going it was bow up. I actually may have to move the bateries a little forward but still to early to tell. I will double check on the coupler tightness. Any comments of the data log?

                        Thx

                          Just the 60a looked good,
The data log, Is info over load to me.
Hey next time you run try this to get some video when running by your self,
Just about all my video's where done this way.
It is just hard to zoom in and drive at the same time.
I am using a different camcorder now, But still mount it to the tx with thin velcro straps.
Just use the tx like a side are gun and try to keep it lined up when running,
It gets easier the more you feel it out.

                              Glad to help,
I just look at you setup in the picture.
Can you spin the water jacket 25 degrees ?
Than you could hook the in water line to the bottom nipple on the jacket.
It would fill the can from the bottom and over flow out the top nipple that way to.
And it would cool and hold more water around the motor can that way to.

Cable slipping in collet, did you solder the end of the cable? Thats why it is hard to get on plane and only 60 amps.
