They're just well known in the offroad/onroad racing community. I have a 2s shorty in my f1 and it's the shizz. I think he's pertaining the price when he says they're the best for the money.... All hard packs by the way. He even makes a 4s shorty...

MaxAmps are absolute junk. Sorry. Many threads right here on this board about their over priced and overrated packs.

You do realize that the SMC 6500 3S packs you bought are 3S2P inside? Very hard to balance or know if all cells in pack are balanced.
Basically what you bought are 35C packs built in parallel to get 70C rating. Hobby King did this as well with some Zippy cells. Not bad but, definitely very far from best for the money.

check the reviews on the battery. maybe that's where the negative feedback coming from. I am new to the rc boat world, but I tell you from my experience. DINOGY, ROCKS. I have seen and have positive feedback on them. the plastic casing is tuff and I like them. Give me updates on your new set up........will be waiting.

I went with them because the rc guys that race swear by them. SMC matches the cells and that is more than most. also the packs are fresh and not many can or are willing to do that as well.
This is the first time I will have used them. I will give some feed back and video to show performance and run times against the pack I currently run.
