My son has been wanting to build a Whiplash this winter. He's never built a boat before, and after seeing the new cowls has been thinking about one of these instead. Seems like it may be a little easier to build, fit everything in, and setup then the Whips. Might be a nice father son winter project.
ML Boatworks GP Sport Hydro lineup is getting a facelift...New cowlings!!!

Met up with some friends in VA today. Got John Finch to get behind the wheel so I could video this for you guys. I think this might even be the first time John has driven an FE boat! When he got done running, we discussed some things to make it even better. The first thing is getting the rudder on the right side of the transom instead of the left. He felt when the boat blew off in the video it was because he had zero rudder input at the time, where he had been giving it a touch of right rudder during the rest of the running, and the boat lifted the sponson. He felt the right side rudder mounting would help eliminate that. The 10-15mph quartering wind didn't help either! Anyways, the rudder was shortened up today and the boat picked up 5-6mph, so I was very happy about that! Maybe this will help show you what this boat is all about! Enjoy, Mike

Ohhhhh yeahh!!! Cowling molds are being finished! The CNC guy got the GP310/335 mold and the GP400 mold done this morning, and is finishing the GP265 mold later today. Here are pics of the awesomeness!!! BTW, the lines you see in the mold, that is just where the REN board is glued in layers...thats normal. Mike

Looking good!!!!
Mike,
I'm hitting 57mph with a detongued x452 on a Neu 1521 1.5D using two 5000mah 4s in parallel. The temps are good for a 6 lap heat race but I need more!!! do you have a prop recommendation for me to try? Put me on the list for a new cowl even though I like the original just fine!
Thanks,
ToddComment

Todd, To me the x452 is just not enough on the low KV that is the 1521 1.5D. I want to say I am using an x455, tip cupped, and its in the low 60's right now which should be plenty enough speed for any race if you run the pins!Laser cut, birch plywood rc race boat kits- WWW.MLBOATWORKSRC.COM WWW.DINOGYLIPOS.COM

Todd, any talk partaining to help everyone run one of these if perfectly fine dude! Yes, if you are not detounguing the props, you WILL have issues. All sport hydros require tougues removed. I see no reason the ABC props won't be fine. I have a box full of various sizes I need to work on and test on the hulls. If you are getting bounce than you have to much negative in the strut. I found that out last weekend! Put the strut around neutral on a flat board, and make it 1/8" deeper than the the sponson heel depth on a flat board. This should get you around right...the toungues have to go tho on the props! MikeLaser cut, birch plywood rc race boat kits- WWW.MLBOATWORKSRC.COM WWW.DINOGYLIPOS.COM
