Thanks for the info, I just got a hull and plan on using a feigao 10xl, hydra 240, 4s1p 5000mah to start
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

I just did a good bit of testing on the 10XL but with a Hydra 120. With 4s1p the best that I got out of the hull was 40.2(GPS) with an M445. Peak amps were 109 when accelerating out of the corners and taking off from the start. Amps went down as boat came to full speed...I would have to look back at my data to tell you down to what. I experimented with 6s1p for two laps and registered 51.9 mph(GPS) with the peak amps going up to 150 with the M445. The amps also went down as the boat came to full speed...but of course so did the water. The GPS readings reflect the max speed. All of the amp measurements were done using the eagle tree datalogger that I purchased from OSE. Figured I would share a few numbers with everyone here. I tested the X442, M445, X642, X645 and X447.

Did you ever convince the wife to shoot some video? Of the BOAT. Felt like some clarification was in order there...

I do Have some video (of the boat) but haven't figured out how to post it yet. I had to get my brother to take it, my wife is a bit embarressed that i'm 30 and still playing with rc boats and trucks. I'll try to get the video up soon.

                  Playing with RC toys

Try telling the wife about me. I love playing with RC trucks (TMaxx) RC10, and RC boats ( too many to list) with my boy. My boy is 36 years old. Which makes me really OLD.
                  Good Luck

                      DF 33 setup summary

Hi Guys ! I've been kinda' laying back licking my wounds after getting my butt kicked at the Nationals, although my DF33 did get one first place win in a heat with Darin pit-coaching me. The good news is that my DF33 is FINALLY fully dialed and it's AMAZING !! Using all the suggestions from Ray Fuller, Brian, Darin, Ron, & David Newland, [how's that for name-dropping ] she's rock steady & circles the buoys at the lake at close to 60 mph without letting off in the corners.
#1] Blueprint the bottom ! [per Darin & David] Mine was invisibly but way wavy & bumpy
[ btw my boat is a DF clone & once I hit it with the orbital sander I was surprised at how much it needed]. No more chine wobble !!!! [also see #2]

#2 ]motor in back to get the batt's inside the rails [ my rails were off-center & I had to re-center to use the Jim W rail-mounts]

#3] long stinger & [hand-made] extended rudder bracket. Speedmaster .21 rudder shortened @ 1/2 inch or so

#4] big tabs, but set neutral , keeps nose down in racewater

#5] OSE turn fins replaced the CF ones that Brian insisted I get rid of & of course he was right !

                      #6] CG 91/2 - 101/2 inches from back

                      #7] I had been running a 1515 1Y [Ron Green] with M445/447 for oval & 642 for offshore, but recently installed a 1521 1.5D from Jan & hooked up a totally incredible customized X450/3 [ Props-4-U ; can I mention that ? ] UNREAL !!!

                      #8] 4S2P 4900 30C / Hydra 240.
Decent temps [with a plugged cooling line that I just discovered last night ]

Now, after months of tuning, I have my dream boat

                      BTW I'm 63 & my ex-wife wouldn't understand my toy-boat addiction. I still miss her, but my aim's improving

                      Tony

p.s. The 1515 1Y is now pushing the newly re-modeled Drifter to the mid-sixties with more to go !! Yowzah !!

                          re :

Heath, here's one way to look at it : Had I purchased a new, perfect hull already set up, or ready to have all the "right" components installed according to some pre-determined blueprint, I'd miss all the learning/building skills I gained from the trial-and-errors . I'd also miss the advice generously and freely given from the "masters" mentioned earlier. Yes, it was massively time-consuming and spendy, but I'm glad it happened that way. I'm a better boater because of it. And when I spanked [on the oval course] a top-notch gas mono at the lake last week & the crowd said " yay for the electric guy", It suddenly seemed all worth it !
