    Delta Force 33

I received my hull and parts from OSE yesterday and am starting lay everything out. I'm sure this will be the first question of many. How low should the rudder be mounted ? On my last boat the bottom of the rudder was about 1 1/2'' below the bottom of the hull. Is this about right?
    Thanks

I got started on mounting the hardware this weekend, worked on it sat and sun. Everything is just finger tight for now so I can remove it and seal the ply on the transom. I have not mounted anything on the inside yet. I'm trying to mount the motor close to the transom so I can keep the batteries low and still get the right c.o.g
Let me know what you think Thanks

No plans for the apache...for now. I use it as a recovery boat. It is a fun little boat, after the batteries are dead in the big ones I do a few laps with the apache. I think at least one has been built, do a search on this forum you should find something.

            Nice work sir.
May I suggest that you turn your trim tab brackets over. I think you'll find with this hull that you will need little tab if any.

What motor, cells are you going with??

Thanks I didn't notice I put the tab brackets on upside down until after I took the pictures, already fixed.
I plan to put a fiagao 9xl witha castle 240 esc and two 4s 4500 30c lipos. I will prob start with an x440 or x442 prop and see what the temps are. I know the esc is overkill but it alows for a future motor upgrade and plenty of room for error.

Hi, I have the same boat, same motor. To locate the motor position I first put inside freely the motor, batteries and esc. In my opinion, the c.o.g should be 30%-33% from transom. I have tested various props, the 42 mm did not work at all (the boat did not plane) and the best choice was the graupner 2317.45 or octura 645. Surprisingly, the graupner props have super performance, maybe because they are light. Max. Amps were about 65 with the graupner, and 85 with 645, speeds were about 40 mph. Tested also 48mm but no good.

Sorry one mistake, I have the 36 inch. However all above apply, except that the 42 mm prop may work in your boat.

I had some time after work a couple of nights this week to get some more done. The motor and mount are installed. I also got the servo and steering linkage connected. It took a few attempts to get the right bend on the stuufing tube but I finally got it. The flex cable is cut, soldered and installed. I got an email from castle saying my esc was shipped so I should have that in a couple days. I'm not sure where to mount it. Would it stay cooler mounting it on its own instead of on the motor?
I think I enjoy building these almost as much as running them.

FWIW I mount my escs on foam blocks just in front of the motor. Cut the block so that it fits nicely on the bottom of the hull. Coat it with epoxy and when cured you can velcro the block to the hull, and your esc to the block. This helps keep wire lengths and cooling lines short. It also keeps the esc high and dry even if the boat is upside down.

                        Lookin good mate!!!

                              Hi Kevin,
From what i've read the mini rudder is too short for this hull, it likes the long tapered rudder..
