Rich's MHZ Shockwave m version build aka Fountain

I had the itch to build a boat and decided on this hull because I don't have any electric V hulls this size and I had a few goals set for this project.

    1. TAKE MY TIME! I always rush my builds

    2. Make something unique for it (lets see who can spot it lol).

    3. Get some experience with Carbon/Kevlar layup.

    4. Learn to set up a flooded stuffing tube.

    5. Speed; I would be happy with 45mph, but higher speed goals obtainable in the future.

    Set up as follows:

Speed master 21 strut and Mini rudder.

    Leopard 3674 2200kv x440 starting prop.

    Seaking 120 amp esc

    Standard Hitech metal gear sevo

3s 5000 mah and 4s 5000 mah lipos the latter for speed

The x442 may be all that motor can turn in summer heat.................So, you need all the battery gusto you can get. 5000 45c or 40c's minimum for max performance. Two 2s in series should get you into the high 40's minimum......possibly the 50 mark. You may even consider trying an m445 after starting small and temping it.

I got 38.6 with the 3s 5000 and 46.8 with the 4s 5000. I am going to find a smaller capacity 4s to get it to balance out right. The cg is way to far forward the big 4s. I don't think ill need to use a x442, the x440 seems to be ok at an amperage of 78 amps....might stick on my x640 and see what that feels like. The temps were in the upper 70s on the esc and in the low 60 on the motor on 3s on 4s they hit 110f on the esc and 75f on the motor. I just needs more adjustment but for now I am very happy with the way it came out.

Rich, a 640 has more total pitch than an x442.......................going down in battery mah will reduce your speed due to less battery amperage output.

A 3674 motor in a little MHZ Shockwave WOW thats a overkill even with a x440 it will turn in mid air , i ran my SW with a 28x60mm Vortex/Feigao 380L8 series motor and 3s lipo with a 36mm prop almost 80km/h it is asmall boat that should be light built.

I have some data with the x640 on 3s, 44.7 mph and only 66.84 amps, I agree with the less mah = less speed, I will have to adjust the cg with the 4s if I want to get the right balance. Lowering the mah is a last resort.

Overkill was one the plans I have had for this boat. A DF with 4074 motor is overkill but many have run them with good results.

                  x640 4s.jpg

Here is the data with the x640 on 4s 5000 mah. I moved the lipo as far back as it could go and it seem to have the right attitude just still a bit hoppy at slow speeds. At high speed it was straight as an arrow and rock solid. 49.3 mph just under 92 amps...

Can either of you tell me what cg you guys have it set at? I am trying to tune her in a bit more. I just took it apart and gave it a sweet paint job and now I have to start over. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction?

COG should be in the 28-30% range.
