Need Recommendations--Dumas Miller American to Electric

OK, nothing like jumping into the deep end...

Am planning to get a Dumas Miller American kit, a .67 nitro boat, but build as an electric for fun in the sun. My question is what size motor would be needed to give fast performance or, since I have no desire to compete, maybe a twin drive setup? I know Offshore Electrics have some ready to go brushless systems, maybe 2 of those for a twin drive setup? As you can see, out of the box thinking more than welcome. I have plenty of lipo packs I can use for power...thanks.

Follow Doby's thread It's the same size boat.
Twins won't give you more speed, just less amps!

Thanks for the steer...after reading that thread I will scale back a bit, have no desire to put that much money into this project. So maybe a 36" version of some type...

BTW, really liked your brushless Miss Vegas...

So how long is your boat?, I have been looking at the kb45's they are large and with a 6s setup it should make your boat haul, and would be large enough to push a heavy hull, the 1700 kva motor should provide you with what you are looking to do, then there are hardware considerations, get a good rudder with a water pickup or there are pickups for the bottom of the hull and get a water jacket offshore has some nice ones, all aluminum (not the coiled tubes) about 22.00 bucks and get yourself a speed control which can take the punishment, mine is rated to 12s and I am only running 6s, and it is rated at 100 amps, and I am only using a 540XL 09 and can only get 1/2 throttle (which is bad because it drives the amps up.) Rule of thumb low voltage= higher amps / higher voltage= lower amps they are inversely proportional.

Actually, I don't have it yet, so far I have just had sailboats and a Graupner B24, which I put an Astroflight Cobalt 05 in and run on 3S lipo. But I like the looks of the hydros so thought I would do one. Dumas has some discounted kits, the Miller American caught my eye and I like the size, but it will cost too much to put in a decent power system. So attention has shifted to the smaller Atlas Van Lines--that is a 36" boat. Much easier on the wallet to outfit, and still may want to do a dual drive system.

Have flown electric for years so have some understanding of system requirements but a newbee to fast boats...
