I'd like to build a lit boat too. This one would be good to mount in the hull(mucho custom work)

Thanks for the photos of the turn fins. I did not understand what you meant until I saw the pics. Did doing this with the turn fins substantially improve handling?
I will be running 4S2P. 5,000MAH each. You noticed by taking out the middle stringers I could mount the battery trays lower -right next to the motor, for a lower center of gravity.
I thought about getting a new hatch, wing and decals as well. The hatch and wing are fairly inexpensive through Phil's Hobby Shop. http://www.philshobbyshop.com/catalo...p.x=18&op.y=20 $8 for the wing and $11 for the hatch. The windshield is sold out. I think I am going to repaint mine rather than getting the new decals.
Those lights are so cool.Comment

Thanks, I did not want to mud up your thread.
Yes windshield was out of stock at PB when I was looking for one,
May be just make a better one.
Turn fins, Yes I think they work much better and less drag to.
The strut adjusting made it more stable a high speed.
Yes, I think moving the cells lower will help to, The hull is very light in the water and like to take off some times.
Hears what mean about take off and strut adjustment, lol

Ran her today. She ran great and very stable, bounced over wakes like a light boat but landed level. I had my GPS in it and it registered 41.2mph. I was using a Prather 225. After a four minute run, the battery connectors (6MM)were 180F! Esc - 130 and Motor 98. It was running a little wet so I thought that might be causing the heat. I adjusted the strut to level, the trim tabs to slightly above neutral (I did not move the batteries) and the mph went to 42.7 but the connector temps were still 180. I put on a Prather 215 and after it got done cavitating, it took off, but only 36.9 mph.The temps were cool to the touch. It was a blast to run. I rolled it twice but it bounced right back up and did not miss a beat. Next weekend I will try a prop in between the two.Comment

Well sounds like you had a good day, Now wheres the video.
The 6mm should not be hot, I am running 5.5 all the way and may be hit 115 f at a 8 minute full run with a x445.
Something not right with the 6mm, Check the soldering on them.
What cells did you use ?Last edited by lenny; 11-26-2024, 05:46 PM.Comment

The X445 has a pitch of 2.48; The Prather 225 is 2.80. The 445 is the prop I am running on it next. Here is a crappy video with my iPhone sitting on the table so the boat just flyis in and out of the frame. If you pause it at 33 pr 1:12 Secs you can see how it is riding.

Yes I saw it was a little wet,
I rigged my camera to my tx with velcro straps and it works pretty good.
Yes I started with a s230 that came with the boat and best speed was 42 mph and all was good,
but my turnigy 120 esc caps were getting hot 160 f,
Than I added some 1000 caps and temps are good, I was running a x646/3 and it ran smoother with that.
I think with your cells lower it help the boat popping back up after a flip, It will be my next mod on mine.
Do the turn fins, I think you will like it.Comment

I have a lot of props, lol So I was trying everything up to a x452.
Looking for speed changes and temps.
May be that boat will handle some good chop with the cells lower.Comment

After I get it set up right, with the right prop and it is running perfect. You know what I am going to do don't you? Of course, try to make it go faster. Lol. I have a Tacon 3674 1300KV, 44 Volt, motor I may put in it and run a x440 or x442 on 8S.Comment
