i had to sign up just to comment on this!
amazing build! i have just pickup a villain iv of ebay for £36! i think thats about $50-$60

i thought it would be quick but yeah... not so haha so thought about upgrading and being out of the model world for a fair few years now the tech out there is mad!
i am thinking brushless like you have done but no idea on what its going to cost or where in the UK i will get anything to do a single drive conversion.
also i have nooooo idea about lipo's! thats all new to me, as said been out of it for a while haha

so could you piont me in the right direction for the parts you have used names etc so i can try and track them down over here.

keep up the good work mate :D

Just search Ebay for Traxxas Villain, and scores of parts come up. Get the exploded views from the Traxxas website, gives all part numbers, diagrams and all that. Very helpful.

Hey Bonez, here's the motor and ESC I'm using in it, the motor is currently out of stock but you can get a similar 3674 in the 1300-1500kv range for 6s like I'm running, or you can run 4s and get a 1900-2200kv.

          Motor: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Inrunner.html
          ESC(best 120a ever for 49 bucks) http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Boat_ESC.html

          this is a big 4 poler, I have a Villain with a 4074 also, 4s motor: http://www.nitrorcx.com/96m801-4074-2000kv.html

Nice build, It is amazing how some up dated electronic can make a old boat fly. Do you have any pics of the trailer?

Well you got me thinking and I was looking at a PB Formula Fastech, Locally Used for $300. rtr with some 3s cells,
But I jumped on the band wagon instead,
And got this one to redo like you have done.http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...E-GONE-TONIGHT!!!!!
I may need some help with this and info.
Was thinking 4s2p instead of the 6s,
Let me know what you think on that.

                  Thanks for any info.

Nice Lenny!! Great to see someone else follow with one of these ultra fun Villain builds!! Follow my thread step by step and you should do fine. Get a 3674 or 4074 on the 1900-2200kv range for 4s2p. Its ok to use two 5000mah 4s batts as well since the villain is made to carry two motors and two nimhs in stock form..............weight helps. Make a thread on the build and I will pop in every now and then.

Lenny, here's a vid of my second brushless single drive Villain I built a couple years ago. This one actually has a set tube stinger that is non adjustable but very simple and sturdy.

                        Boy that thing looks great,
How does it like chop setup that way ?
Set tube, I was thinking to go that way.
Also I have some motor on hand to try,
I was thinking of a Turnigy Typhoon 500 1800kv outrunner may be.

The 1800 will work great on 4s2p, try it with an x442 first. You will need trim tabs on this narrow hull for sure.

Trim tabs yes I will make some for it,
To try and stop any torque roll.
                            I saw that T T 500 1800kv run in a Sv27 on 4s and it was moving pretty good,
And I think it was running nice and cool to.

                              Hey,
Will two 6s packs fit in your setup ?
Looking at some 6s 30c 4500 mah cells to buy,
But not sure what I am going to use them for yet.

I use two 3s 4000mah packs. Plenty of juice and runtime for this low amp draw setup.
