The All New Aeromarine 32" JERSEY SKIFF !

The one thing that was missing from my fleet of go-faster boats was a Jersey Skiff. I used to watch them race on the bay right next to my High School football field ( Long Beach, N.Y.) in the 1950's, and thought "one day".....When I found out Aeromarine was coming out with an FE friendly 32" hull, I called Remy, and here she is .

To begin with, she'll be rigged as a spec racer with an AQ 1800 motor - Pat in AZ is building one and some Fla & SE guys may also be in the mix. The idea was not to be an official scale-specific class, so the decision among some of us was to have an underhull shaft extending no more than 2 1/2" past the transom. Same for the hardware.

The first thing that had to be addressed was access to the motor mount so that motors could go in and out without exhausting one's vocabulary of obscene proverbs. ( Later plans include full P-Power so switching motors had to be simple).

I fabbed a quick-change motor mount out of Al angle and plate using an Insane FE30 motor mount permanently attached to the plate. The plate threads into the permanently attached rail pieces with four easy-access cap screws. Bingo !!

I finally had an excuse to order the gorgeous SPD billet tabs that OSE has an exclusive on. Big 60/90 rudder with dual pickup (trimmed some).

Did a "stars" theme. Graphics : " Born in the USA" will come next ( can you guess the "link" to the boat ?) Looking for right-size drivers.

Should get wet very soon-vid's to follow.

Dig those twin black water hoses...looks scale. I keep thinking I want to build a Crackerbox.

                    Very nice Tony

This boat seems to be popular sometime ago in the US but I have never seen one here down under. Is it a submerged drive?

Those timeless classic hull are always so nice....

                    Cheers

Actually, the full-size JS's are fully submerged with a straight shaft and underhull rudder. Several of us that are interested in getting some JS racing going have agreed to allow a J-bend shaft but no hardware shall extend more than 2 1/2". As JS flatbottom hulls already have some "charming" handling anomalies, the decision to go semi-scale was made to allow at least "some" control while underway

I honestly have no idea how to prop a submerged drive; I'm cautiously starting out with an X440 & will see what happens.

Keith, The closet blingmaster in me had me use some leftover black hose from a customer build. I'm a sucker for little trick touches.

I too thought about a cracker, but when I saw this hull I just had to get one instead. The gas JS class is really growing at the L.A. race events and are so much fun to watch. My go-faster rigs keep me needing to change my shorts after each heat ; the JS should provide some comic relief from all that

                          Drivers now in place

Through a special arrangement with the time-space continuum I was able to clone the personas' of Jake and Ellwood Blues for my drivers. Final special graphics should arrive today (there seems to be a slowdown of shipments; some kind of seasonal nonsence has clogged the pipeline - don't they know we have boats to build?)

With any luck, and my cold going away, first wet should take place next Wednesday at Joe's - wish me luck; vid's to follow.

                            First Vid !!

Running a little loose, tabs down as of now & bigger packs for a little more ballast. This is basically how these boats handle; up on the rail in turns This is going to be fun to race, I can't wait.
