Mmm,ran the 5017/2's today on 5s and got 57mph and 107 amps per motor.I guess the amps have to go up as the voltage decreases.

So the wattage basicly is staying the same at 2025'ish.These motors are supposed to be good for 3200 watts.

90% of the time thats usually the case but there were a few setups that I had that it was not

Well Chris should I wait for my HV twin ESC or run the 5018's on 6s?I do have 200 amp ESC's right now.

its a hard one...because in theory if you we to say the word 3000w, then that 3000w can be made up of anything that equals 3000w. Say 100v @ 30A or 50v @ 60A even 25v @ 120A. All equal 3000. in our case or with your motors say 3000w is max (at 35K RPM). the 5017/2 may pull 2025w on 5s but going up in volt can have a few different outcomes. it could pull 3800w and motor would go bang!! going down in 4s will pull less amps, adding a bigger prop to the same setup, will then pull more amps again. I guess you have to find out firstly, how many RPM you want to run loaded (say 35k) then slowly load up a props that can achieve that without overloading the setup. Its all a game that takes alot of experience and many runs to figure out. (Im not the one by the way)

When you ask the question, what prop? people will try to answer with a safe option, as your boat gets tuned in, it requires less effort to run.
I guess to somehow answer your question yes amps x volt = Watt but you could also run 7s with a small prop and only pull say 1700w and go alot faster (at that point you may be working way out of the manufacturers recommendations for RPM) but its yours, your risk

This question about specs has been discussed with Ben at FC and 7s should be good, 8s,NO. I think I'll try the 5018's for a pass or two on 6s and see what the numbers say.

So Kent,I am curious as to whether or not your batteries are coming in with different drainage.I was for the most part running right hand turns and the inside prop battery was drained a little more.Voltage was down a bit more but the energy put back in was fairly close. It may just be the batteries. They are just Skylipo's.

Shawn, the sad thing is... I never measure voltage the moment I pull up the boat. I should to get a good reading but I don't! if you wait, the batteries will charge again from its own heat. The only way I feel if one is working harder is the temps on left/right side, more heat, usualy more power needed/used. 7s on 2200? hmm ok I'm not going to comment on that one. It sounds like alot, but might be ok. I don't have those motors nor have I ever spun anything that fast. But thinking about the price of the motors...how much of that do you think went into the bearings? just a thought. I know I said try :) maybe with 42-45 props.

I just picked up a little meter that plugs into your balance plug.I remember tiqueman saying something in regards to this(one motor using more power),but I don't recall exactly what.I was taking some hard turns and kinda spinning out and punching it.It actually kind of side slipped under on one side once. This might put more load on one side.I was in the smaller pond today.I'll have to monitor it.

And my motors are 1800kv.Ben did have these specially built for him(he says) as he purchased some amount of magnets and such for them to be built with. But still, they are only a $100 motor.

BTW Keith there is running 8s on the 2200kv ARC motors. That is how he is hitting 100mph.JFYI

So I did some lake hopping today.First I went to the lake that I have been enjoying but it was too busy.I'll get some vid up and you'll see.
This is where I tried the 5018/3's on 6s.It was flighty, kinda airplane flighty. So I gave up to continue to the original destination,an hour away where the gas guys run. What an awesome spot and I had it to myself.Raced around the marker buoys for 3 sets of batteries.I may join these guys.

So I forgot to plug the GPS in so no speed data today. But The 5018's drew 117 peak amps,2500 watts. We are still within limits and everything is still cool. After my full runs with the 5017/2's,motors-94F,ESC's-104F,and batts-107F.

It does it on 5s too.I take it it is the diameter with the spare blade. The 1.7 2 blades don't do it.When I get the 48's from Kent we will have a go again.I think there may be some 1.9 2blades in the future. We'll see.I'll have to cut some down for it but look what came in the mail Friday

Well I may have a new issue here.I think that I am bending my stingers slightly

                              Fishing with Tony 004.jpg

Anyone got any ideas outside of getting a bigger boat so I can have stingers with rear mounts?
Perhaps I could shorten them or buy shorter ones(I saw them somewhere).

I have seen these ones but they are 4mm.I could drill them out to 3/16

                              Or Kintec has a few

                                Hi
The stinger mount points need reinforcing.
From TFl those hulls have weakness at that high load area.
Ive one those hulls here, that belongs a LHS, with one side cracked at that spot .
The stingers you have are probably okay.. just add strength to the mounts.

Or grab a set the 110mm long cat stingers , and mount the pedastal support on the transom.

                                regs
