What batteries are you currently running in your Cyber Storm?. I can either go 6s 3000mah in parallel. or 3s up to 8000mah in series.Everything that has a beginning, has an EndComment

Im still running 6s 3000 40c in parallel..Ive been thinking of trying 4000 6s packs..I think it would fit but they are heavy though..Im may not affect performance too much..It would run slightly wetter, but it would be nice to get more than a 3 1/2 min run..I think I would gain a minute or so with 8000..Comment

Yeah that 4082 eats pretty much..Ive also thought about running packs in series. But with all the connections and extra wire I would have to question efficiency..Heres some packs Ive been wanting to try..There pretty popular in the heli world and since I fly helis too I know how much amp spikes a heli can achieve..I think they would be good packs..

Chris, let me know more info on the 3s batteries.
Mike- If not I like the looks of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...mpatible_.html
Should get a 10minute run on 2 of these in series.Everything that has a beginning, has an EndComment

I have had Zippys, Turnigys, and Nanos. I found the Zippy packs puffed very easy under high amp draw. The Turnigys weren't bad but internal resistance was a problem. I have 2 Nanos which I have ran 3 times in my Apparition and once in my Cyber Storm. So far I find them the best for performance and lower resistance in the HK range.Everything that has a beginning, has an EndComment

With a X646/3 prop
Benefits
Gives top speeds in the high 50s
Temps are cool
Won't have to change my batts
I have seen a few racers doing this and coming off better. Got to be worth a try.Comment

Now to the comparison..
Is 4s better than 6s in this hull? no

It all depends on what you want to do.Comment

No doubt there getting full wide open runs cool..But 1600 kv on 4s is 23200 rpm..Im spinning 34410 with a 447/3 and are barely getting 60mph..When you prop up on 4s your amperage draws will increase significantly..Say your running 4s 40c packs in parallel..thats 160 amps that you would have on tap..Now 6s 40c packs you will have 240 amps on tap..You give and take on any setup..Just depends on what you want to do..4s proped up for speed like your talking, your packs will not last..And also to me around 60mph , I like the extra weight of the 6s packs..For me I just want to bash. Not race..My setup has proven worthy to me..My only drawback is runtime..The only good thing I see about running 4s in a hull this size is battery capacity..You can get longer runtimes on 4s simply because you can put higher Mah packs in compared to 6s..

Bill I would say is a pretty serious racer. He just informed me he has been using Zippy 5000mah 40c batteries in his and that his set-up does not pull a lot of amps. With my Hyperions I would expect better performance and from what I have heard they can withstand a beating. I won't be racing in this boat, just having fun possibly taking on whoever is at the Lake for fun. Mainly going in a straight line as fast as possible. I will probably buy some big 3s packs as well just in case I get bored.
To me it sounds like your a basher not a racer..You might want to consider that..Comment

Thats cool..But I dont see how you can get more efficiency out of a 4s setup as apposed to a 6s setup? Mabey I should run my T-Rex 600 ESP heli on 4s instead of 6s..Wait I would probably be the first to do that. And it would go

Since Bill is probably the only person I have seen running this sort of set-up I have asked a few others what they think of this idea on here.
What I understand is
Lower temps
Same speed if propped correctly
Motor in low RPMs
High Amps-Probably about the same as I'm getting with my current set-up.
I was going to be a racer but the rules in the Uk are too much. Cuts a lot of the fun out of it for me. Worrying about safety loops and batteries lasting 6 mins etc.
I will get a smaller stepped hull boat to race with.Everything that has a beginning, has an EndComment

Just in the interest of comparing apples to apples...
NAMBA regulations are pretty specific on what is allowed to run in what classes. My DF33 is a "P mono" which allows a maximum of a 34" hull and a max of 4s 2p 10,000 ma total battery capacity.
Running 6s puts you in "Q" where the maximum hull length is 40" with a max of 6s 2p 10,000 ma total battery capacity. Would you really want to run your 33" Cyber "Q" against my 36" Sprintcat Q on the offset offshore course?
