    neewbie boat build?

    hi there,

im new to this forum and relatively new to boats. i have had a few rc cars and planes but now i want to try my luck with building a brushless speedboat.

i already know what hull i will be using which is:

these are all the electronics i will be using:

    motor - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=2078

    esc - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4313

    battery - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=5469

any help would be great, and im not sure if that setup would work? can the esc handle the amps from the lipo? is the motor good?

    thanks

well to start with i dont have much money as im only 15. and i dont realy want speed runs i was just thinking that if im gona buy a motor i might aswell buy a brushless one because there the same price as brushed.

kin, do you know if the battery, motor and esc would work togeather?

      thanks

Welcome to the board. Looking at what you're thinking, I don't think you'll be very happy with this setup. It's almost $175.00 USD. That motor will burn up the ESC quickly. You may want to look to Ebay for a used SV27. You may be happier with that for the same amount of money. Plus you'll get the hardware and radio which may even be cheaper in the short and long run.

With this ESC it comes out to almost $170.00 USD.
That's not including a radio and other support parts. Throw in a cheap radio and you're at about $215.00. A bit pricey for a plastic hull boat. But the ultimate choice is yours. But I do think you'll need at least an 80 amp ESC. Looking at the hull specs. That's designed for a 400 size motor. The Feigao is larger at a 540 size.

as long as you don't get crazy with your prop choice that motor/esc combo should work*...the battery on the other hand... if you ran 2 of those battery packs in parallel (2s2p), I'm thinking that ought to provide enough margin to avoid damaging the lipos
*that 1st motor would have been way to 'hot' for that size hull and likely would have blown that 18 amp esc on the 1st application of throttle.
                      edit
ooops. that esc isn't rated for 2s Lipo's, its rated for 13-18v(but the amp rating is about right...if you got a motor rated at approx 1500kv and ran those packs in series (4s) you could use that esc )

to use that pack (3s,11.1v nominal) you would want a motor more like this one http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4205 you want to keep your output rpm down around 20000 rpm(25k max)
